Gears Of War 2 Pre-Order Incentives Announced

Team Xbox announced today the pre-order incentives for Gears Of War 2, set to release on November 9th.

It's 3 stores with 3 different incentives. Here's what you get and from where:

Blockbuster - First issue of the Gears Of War comic with an exclusive cover
Gamestop - An exclusive Gears Of War 2 theme created for the New Xbox Experience.
Best Buy - A remote control version of the Centaur tank. (Only when pre-ordering the limited edition of the game)

I'm not very fond of the whole trend of expensive collector's editions of games. Especially when what is offered just doesn't match up to the price in my opinion. However, pre-order incentives are a bit different. There's no extra cost involved and sometimes you get some pretty neat stuff, as looks to be the case with the Gamestop & Best Buy incentives with this product.

So is the Best Buy deal a toy, or an in game item? Their web site doesn't mention it...although some sort of bizzarre, over the top, goofy (read: really cool) item isn't beyond the realm of the possible.

It's a toy. There's a picture somewhere, but it gives no indication of scale, as, I think, it's only a render.

But yeah, a toy. Nothing in-game.

I normally can swing buy Circuit City, Best Buy, or Frys and then get $5 bucks off or a perk.

Honestly, I don't care about any of those incentives. A pewter statue of Marcus ripping into a Locust with his Lancer... now that would be something I could really get behind (cradles Big Daddy statue).

Save me a couple of bucks on the game and you'll have a pre-order incentive I'm interested in. If the Gears theme is decent, I'd opt for that one I guess.

It probably will be pretty decent...except for the giant ass "Gamestop" logo in a corner somewhere.

Amazon.ca has the lancer bundle available for those of us in Canada. It's way too expensive for my tastes but it's good to have the option.

Methinks it'll probably be more like a GameStop theme with the Gears of War 2 logo in the corner somewhere.

I am pretty stoked for this. I am going to be torn between whether to play campaign or multiplayer first. I don't even care about the preorder bonuses.

Same here. I don't even have Gears 1 anymore (and now I sort of want to play it again...the agony of trading in [but not at gamestop]).
