Aside from bosses most enemies in the game die in just a few hits. Are you using your silver sword for monsters?

Yep (after some help I admit), and the normal battles are actually fun (apart from those stupid endrega queens). Bit of shame most monster tactics consist of "IT"S COMING RIGHT FOR US" negating much strategy.

There are some potions that make sense for any fight, but none are vital. I use a heck of a lot of bombs.

You don't kick his ass because he's a Witcher too.

True, but he was kicking mine. That poison shit was nasty.

Man, fuck Letho. Took me 30+ attempts at beating him. Definitely the most unfair fight I've come across.

Not to toot my own horn but it took me about 5-6 tries. But I did pump myself full of potions before the fight and used a lot of bombs. A LOT of bombs.

I ended up having to run around him in circles and resorting to hit and run tactics. The fight ended up taking about 15 minutes.

This really highlights an area where the game falls short.

The hardest fight in the game for me in both play throughs was the first Letho fight. He's a big dick. So is the "enhanced edition" worth a third play?

It changes the lighting, and adds a very easy mode, that can also be turned off.

I started act 2- Elves on 360, I think I am going off of easy mode, as the difficulty curve is skewed heavily in my favor it feels like.

There needed to be a not-that-easy mode.

Also, I believe the third act has an extra main quest in act 3.

Well. I'm done with this. I'm just not liking it. It annoys the hell out of me.

I like the general world, how it looks most of the time, the music and the idea behind it, but the rest just dulls me out. If I hear one more plough I'm kiling the next dwarf I see. Mature game my ass, it can't go a scene without having a sexual reference. It's more juvenile than GTA. Plough, is fuck, I get it. This game swears more than Tony Montana.

The hubs are too freaking small (same problem as Deus Ex for me, just doesn't really work). The illusion of one big massive world is completely shattered by having these tiny hubs were all this shit happens at once. I made it a bit in Vergen now but fuck it's Flotsam all over again. Dull dungeons. Too much crap too carry around (why can't I fucking pick my items instead of spamming me with 7 so I have to go to the inventory every time to ditch shit). Potions are useless cause they only work when you know what you're going to face, ripping me out of the immersion every game over screen. Just not having fun with the cluttered small room combat. Trowing bombs from a distance all the time just isn't much either.

The story is so convoluted I'm not even paying attention anymore, I almost actually fell asleep with all the ramblings on people I will never see or have no clue where those stupid place are were they live.

Bah.

edit: Now that I think about it, it's Deus Ex for me all over again. I really wanted to like it, but it had a lot of the same problems. Tiny hubs, story which was dull, not really fun in the combat.

RPG's are about choice for me, if I'm forced to play it in a certain way (stealth in DE, bombs and traps in this, etc) it kinda only makes the choices in the story dep, which is basically picking a, b or c.

I'm sending mine back to gamefly.
It was pretty fun, but with diablo 3, dragons dogma and everything else coming out, I just dont see where I will have the time to dedicate to it.
I will keep my save and probably pick it up at a later date.

You may like the first one more. And you are right, it has too much in common with the latest Deus Ex, including not meeting my high expectations after playing the first and best game. I too hated the way potions are now handled. In the first game you can pop a potion when you need it. The first game doesn't go out of it's way to be "mature". But The Witcher is a bit over the top to begin with. The first game has many more and much bigger hubs. And more enemy variations. But then you get bored of running around too much on fetch quest side missions. They toned that down here, but mainly because the world is so damn small. I figured they spent too much money on the new engine and making a console port and had to make cuts to content. I hope that using this engine and lessons learned from the console port that they can make a much bigger and better sequel next time around. Simply put, I want more witcher.
