It's pretty much Torchlight with more complex combat.

I'd also recommend giving the hammer a shot, I was amazed at how different the melee weapons feel and it's much more interesting than the default longsword. There are definitely a lot of clear influences from other games, which is why it's kinda hard to get a bead on what it's like without playing it yourself.

I think the biggest problem with the demo is that it does not give you enough. There's a lot of variety in there.

There are some elements that make it look like at least somebody on the team wanted epic. They end up being a bit jarring though when surrounded by the rest of the package. You've got the mild comedy of the dialogue between the two little people rolling your body down a hallway followed immediately by the horror of waking up on a pile of decidedly unfunny corpses. A pile of corpses that all seem to be males of the same race who buy their underwear at the same shop, but that is another story. Long story short, don't try to inflate it into something it isn't, Rune. Enjoy it for the whimsical action RPG it is. I suppose it could be epic from your point of view in the same manner Elemental worked "perfectly fine" at release from your point of view.

Yeah I'm not sure what art style has to do with the game being epic or not.

Whenever I try to download the demo on steam I get the following message:
No Steam content servers are currently configured to deliver content for this game. This will be corrected soon. Please try again in a few minutes. Anyone seen this before? I have tried switching which server's I am downloading from and restarting steam but no luck. It has been saying it for this demo since yesterday afternoon.

I didn't have a problem with the art style (though I'm not a huge fan of it), the world, or any of that, it was all fine. My problem was with the controls and the combat, they simply didn't feel fluid at all. When they first started showing the game they billed it as God of War meets Oblivion, but the combat and control doesn't even live up to Darksiders, not by a long shot.
I could live with other little nit picks, those are all ancillary, but when the core controls and combat feel off I just can't overlook that. As for my remark about the camera being far too close, yes, it does zoom out a bit during combat, sometimes, but it doesn't always do that. I'll give the demo another shot, maybe download the Steam version too to see how that compares.

The AI is stupid as well. I basically stabbed a guy in the back who was doing nothing at all looking the other way picking his nose while I was beating up his buddy 2 feet behind him.

Where are they getting Oblivion from? It's nothing like Oblivion. Likely that's just their way of trying to garner interest from a wider audience.

Yea, looking at some of the video, it reminds me of Darksiders, especially style mixed with combat.

I always saw the other archer at the beginning start running around, those two are very bad at noticing the player and it takes them several seconds to see the PC from the front, but they don't just stand there. Ken Rolston is the source of why I compare it to an Elder Scrolls game. I also can't see why they are so different? Is it because the world isn't quite as huge? What is the essential bit of Elder Scrolls that keeps them incomparable. |

I've seen enough Fable references. I think ADD has to try the demo at least.

As for this game I played the demo once or twice more to figure out what I might want to try out. I'm leaning towards a sword and bow user at the moment. That could change if I played the demo again though...

I liked what I played. I had to turn the camera sensitivity right down to make it playable with a mouse though. I also had to turn off post-processing or all I got was a black screen and sounds.
Technical issues aside, the game was fun until I stole a health potion, one thing led to another and I ended up massacring a whole town. Actually that was kind of fun too once a random farmer dropped a huge flaming warhammer. Warhammers are tops. |

How exactly does stealing a potion result in an entire town being massacred? I think you have issues..
Of course, the flaming warhammer made it worth it I suppose. Makes you wonder what other civilians might have hiding on them? Kill them all I say!
