I finished Avadon a while ago, and I'd rate it a solid 8.5/10. It loses a little bit because the variety of enemy models is somewhat small (many are just renamed palette swaps to indicate an increase in "toughness") and finding quest givers/takers can be a pain because there isn't any kind of indicator, amp or otherwise, that they are such. Talking to everyone at each location is about the only way to make sure you haven't missed one. You also don't visit all of the countries on the map. The game is planned as a trilogy withe Black Fortress as the first entry, so I imagine they'll explore those lands further in future titles. I was really stoked about seeing what things were like in The Corruption (their version of Mordor, more or less) and you never visit there at all in the first game. In fact, you revisit locations multiple times, but it actually makes the game feel more alive. That town you saved early on from wretches (goblins) upon a later revisit is now under attack from Titans, so while you revisit some areas frequently, they do change.
Still very much worth a play if you like good writing, interesting story developments (trust me, there were a few plot twists I didn't see coming) and Baldur's Gate-esque gameplay. If you like engaging stories and Infinity Engine style gameplay, then try the demo. The first thing I did upon finishing Avadon was reinstall BGII.

I'm playing Geneforge now (about 20 hours in == halfway or so) and it is really a game more about the story.
Yes, there are no "quest giver" icons you kids love so much, but that is because you are supposed to talk to everyone due to the story being an important part of the game. Really well written. |

Well. It was made by one of the original Portal devs (I think she left after Portal came out... She was definitely part of the Naracular Drop team).

I hadn't seen any videos of Quantum Conundrum before and now it's at the top of my most anticipated list that I just made that has only one entry.

![]() I was going to submit a news entry, but I figured I shouldn't re-post every single awesome thing I find on RPS. I figured this thread was a good place to post that video.

Guys, look up The Snowfield. It's quite interesting. I played it last night and it's kind of haunting.

Hmm... what is the "Action" key? It mentions it in the instructions, but it doesn't say what that key is?

A little game made by a friend of mine, called Muu: Just another Day.
Hard as hell platformer, pretty short, but as first games go, rather nicely done. If you're stuck, just turn on the easy mode blocks. If you're Shrinn, play with one hand and upside down to get optimal challenge. |
