It's a safety feature. Get close to a school or playground and listen for the klaxon.

If you guys didn't already get the fantastic AR Cards app, well I guess you are too late to have the cool version. https://market.android.com/details?i...wwilson.ardeck

Nintendo must have forced him to remove their licensed art from the cards, because I downloaded it this morning and it was essentially just scans. If anybody wants the actual art, I can share the APK file. Otherwise, just grab his updated Nintendo-friendly version from that link.

Mach, either you put up the wrong friend code, or you didn't add me.

You're right. I somehow missed yours while moving down the list of names. Oh if only there were an easier way to do this! In any case, it worked when I added you this time....and I see you are playing Pilot Wings. I really liked what I played of it last night; just the first 6 Beginner stages. I also just completed the first Grand Prix in Ridge Racer, and I'm sooooo impressed with the 3D effect! So far I would say Pilot Wings and Ridge Racer have the best use of depth. Street Fighter really doesn't benefit from much, but it's still nice to have it in there.

I saw somebody else was playing Ghost Recon from this list......forget who. Thoughts on it?

I need to get busy, several more people to add.

I picked up Street Fighter, but have barely had a chance to touch it. Unpacking after my move last weekend has been taking up all my time.

and then also this:

I'm pretty sure I added everyone above me. It would have been a lot less tedious if you didn't have to cycle all the way to the left each time for the "Register friend" button to appear.

Man, those copyright friendly cards made me giggle like an idiot for way longer than is dignified.

I've got a bunch of you to add. I'll do a big update tomorrow to my friends list and try to capture everyone who has picked up a unit since the weekend.

I've added everyone in this thread. This whole Friends feature just baffles me. It almost seems like a good implementation, but then I keep feeling like it's missing so many things. In some ways it's better than the Wii's friend system, but at least with that one you could send messages, and even attach photos or Miis.

Is it my own fault for assuming Nintendo would ever finally *get* how to do this?

Agreed - I like how we can see our friends online and what games they're playing now, and I like how the notification light blinks to let you know someone new came on. I wish, though, that there was some kind of on-screen notification in something other than the home menu.... it's kind of crummy to have to leave the game to go see who is online, but thankfully the suspend feature lessens the blow a lot.

I have a feeling Nintendo will add some sort of messaging function in the near future - there are some features that are clearly missing here, but already in the menus (like the web browser, system transfer, and DSiWare/3DS Ware menus). I could just be holding on to false hopes, but I think Nintendo does plan to evolve this a bit.

To be fair, there's some pretty substantial system updates coming. We might get a pictochat analog in the friends menu, yet.

The friends menu does say you can exchange short messages with each other, I assume that's coming later.

Bap and Frederic still need to add me.... get on it!!

Maybe even video chat, somewhat like the one in Pokemon Black/White.

Entirely possible to have video chat, sure.

Also, given that we don't have the app store for it yet, we can probably safely assume that there'll be a chat channel available through it. Xbox Live used to be pretty shitty and unintuitive on launch day, too. With a few weeks of feedback from users and some software updates, though, that problem goes away.

Done. I think I'm up to date now. I tried to update my list at school, but I had trouble connecting for some reason. Which is strange, because I'm pretty sure I could connect my DS on the same network.
