The 16mb/s download is a complete lie. Most times, it's between 6 and 9mb/s.

Boo Rogers, i want to switch to Teksavvy but the other services in the house are all Rogers and you get discounts for bundling services.

We should be switching to uVerse soon. But as long as somebody else is paying the bill, I try not to complain too much.

I've been using Comcast for a long time, and I always tell them I am cancelling my service so they give me promotional rates. Now that I don't have cable anymore, I think it's time to switch to something else. I've never had any big issues with them, but they are a little pricey.

Anyone know a decent place to compare/research ISPs? I've always gone with the most obvious option (usually Comcast) and don't really know where to start looking for other options. I've tried doing some searches and checking out the yellow pages and stuff, and either all ISPs are awful, or I just don't know where to look.

EDIT: Blaaaaaah, after doing some research at DSLReports, Comcast might end up being my best bet. BLAAAAAAAH! I was hoping to get a decent deal elsewhere, but now I suppose I will just call and haggle like I normally do.

Here's mine from home. Disappointingly slow compared to others...but that's the area I live in.

Does not compute. If you don't have cable, then you've already switched from comcast.

Fair enough. Being able to at least hit 1MB/s is nice.

The sad part is if I posted this in Japan, everyone's download numbers would have been closer to 50mbps. I wonder just how much faster the internet feels in japan? Since you still need good servers to serve you on that fat pipe, and in the U.S., not all servers are all that fast.

I've found that the bottleneck on download speeds is almost always the server you are pulling from and not your own connection.

That's from work with business class Comcast. I get almost exactly half that at home with normal Comcast.

I know a bunch of people who hate comcast but I haven't had any problems with them personally. I don't like their business practices and politics much, but they have always supplied me with fat pipes, so I stick with them for now.

Probably a bit lower during peak times, but that's pretty close to what I normally get on speed tests.

This is my work computer, too bad it's not a good enough computer to actually do anything with this speed.

Yeah... it lies. Technically I'm an Earthlink customer but I'm on an RR connection.
