I just started this after just finishing up AC and AC2 for the first time. Can't wait to check it out. I hope they refined the combat a little more. I thought it was getting stale in AC2 after loving it in AC.

Jay, is the multiplayer a ghosttown now?

Shame if it is, as that was some of the most original and just damn crazy fun for when the game launched.

On PC it probably is I tend to pass on multi in games. I may try after the credits roll from the single player. That is, if there is anybody on.

Give it a whirl at least, even if only for an hour. The games are like 10 mins long, and they are insane fun.

Been playing this for the past few games after beatinf the first two practically within two weeks playing time, was surprised I managed to beat them quickly.

Loving the story with Ezio and the historical fiction that these games are revolved around. Will have to give a go in the multiplayer and see how it goes.

I'm much further along now. Been mostly running around goofing off, but I think I have run out of side quests for now. Something still seems off during the combat. Or maybe I suck. I can't seem to get combo kills because someone always interrupts them. Some of the 100% syncs require combo kills. Good luck. Also, another thing to stop me from getting combo kills is the next guard it locks to is off the screen half the time. So combat is usually me sitting there waiting for a counter attack and it is not that exciting. It ends up looking sloppy like my guy is drunk rather than a trained assassin. I am also getting spawning characters right in front of me far worse than AC2. I'll have guards spawn in front of me while trying to evade them, running into them, and alerting them. It may be the PC version. Still though, a decent AC game. But so far, I like AC1 and 2 better.

Am I missing any side quest missions by not getting 100% sync on missions?

No. I much prefer the side quests to the main ones. in fact, the main mission are all escort/chase missions and they are anti-fun. Every time you play them, there is less fun in the world I have destroyed all the towers, synced all the eaglepoints and killed all the Borgia men. One of my BroGuilder is almost at the highest level. I have had more fun dicking around in the game then the previous two combined.

Wrapped this up. I was wanting to enjoy this game, but in the end AC1 and 2 are so much better. It adds a lot of extras, which to me were more of a distraction, than content. Managing the guild members was nifty, but pointless. You couldn't even use them for a final assault or boss fight. Wasn't that the point? They added so many little time sinks in the game like hunting down crap to beat "quests" for shops, flag hunting, and having to redo quests to get 100% sync. In the end I wasn't getting many 100%s, and it was getting annoying.

The combat does seem better than 2, but not as good as 1. The addition of the hammer and heavy weapons were cool, but heavy weapons do not fit the character. Too slow and not very elegant. More of a knight weapon rather than an assassin. The crossbow is a cheap weapon. Too many things in the game to take away any of the combat difficulty. The only difficulty and frustration came with the abundant amount of platforming, which the game doesn't do so well with. Climbing yes, jumping perfectly to some tiny ledge, no.

The characters in the game were not nearly as cool as in 2. The story also did not keep my interest like 2 did. It basically doesn't do many things better than 2, and adds in a bunch of useless junk to make up for it. I'm sure the multi was unique, but how many still play it? Exactly. Multi was a waste of time. Nobody cares about it and won't go back to it like a decent story with decent characters will. Not sure if I can bring myself to play Revelations after this.

EDIT: And the ending sucked too.

I played the multi for weeks, enjoyed it immensely, and went back to it for a LAN party. I probably put at least as many hours into the multi as I did into the single-player. How much time do you have to spend playing the multiplayer portion of a game for it to be worthwhile?

I played some multi and had zero fun with it. Basically died within seconds from the same guy after every spawn. Not sure how that is fun. For me or for him.

Personally, I am tired of every game adding multi to delay or prevernt used games sales and try to maintain interest in the game long term. Yet I can think of zero reason to sell a game like Deus Ex when I can go back at any time and have all kinds of new fun with it. So I disagree with their methods, yet understand the reason. They should make a game worth going back to over and over. I just prefer they made the core game better rather than tacking on multi. Side missions that are different based on decisions during the main story missions. Having to actually make a decision and not always have a linear story. And so on.

I finished it the past weekend too and the main quests were terrible and boring. But the side quests were very entertaining. In fact, it was the most fun I had playing tgis series.

Agreed. Not a good fit for the series. I enjoyed the side missions, but they did get tedious and repetitive for me after a while. They can't hold the game up on their own. It doesn't help I am sure to play AC2, then immediately AC:B.

So, apparently someone decided that Assassin's Creed would be more fun if you are much crappier at climbing.

After seeing this thread bumped I decided to give AC:B another shot. It's not as bad as I remember and I might keep sticking with it. Plus it's one of many games on my backlog that I need to power through.
