So far my favourite game on the system is Lumines. I've been impressed by Wipeout, Uncharted, Super Stardust, etc. but Lumines has kept me from playing anything else at the moment. I just want to fire it up for a quick round and the next thing I know an hour or so has gone flying by. Yeesh!

Well, I'm loving it. Granted, I love portable gaming (even though I never play them outside of my house!) so I'm biased that way.

I finally put Uncharted back in last night and played it for the first time with my good headphones. The game really starts to feel like Uncharted again with the added audio depth, and the action's picking up nicely after Chapter 20.
Since everyone's raving about Lumines I downloaded the demo again. I was pretty underwhelmed by it before but I think for me it's because it just feels like the same old game I already have 3 versions of. I love Lumines, but I may just be getting tired of it. EDIT: Modnation is getting better the more I play it. I've started playing around with the creation tools, and once you get past the "hopefully patchable" clunky buttons on the touchscreen, they're actually really good tools. I was able to whip up a couple of decent tracks and cars in minutes. There's definitely a learning curve to it but I can make better stuff here than I could on the PS3 now. It still makes NO SENSE that there's no online play, though. The career mode is getting challenging now after Tour 4. Last edited by Tayaya; 02-21-2012 at 11:31 AM. |

It sucks that I don't have a Target nearby, no one else seems to include Dynasty Warriors Next in their b2g1 deals.

Target doesn't even list most Vita games online, and Amazon doesn't include Dynasty Warriors in their promotion. I also don't really want to wait even longer to start playing.
Can they even do that once they put it in a flier?

Not sure. Hopefully it obligates them to honor it.

Damn. Looks like the availability of 2 for 1 titles on Amazon is dropping.

Anybody know the approximate length of Uncharted? It looks pretty slick, but if it's only like six hours I can wait on a used copy.

Finally got on a roll in Super Stardust today. I've never managed to get past the first planet on the PS3 version but I made it to the boss of the second planet and cleared 10 million points! Woo!
Where is my Katamari?! Get on the store already!

In my opinion, Wipeout 2048.
Granted there is some bias here as I've always been a fan of the series, but it's drop-dead gorgeous (see earlier in the thread for my photos from photo mode), plays extremely well, has online play, and other than the long load times (which they are patching out like they did with Wipeout HD) really delivers on my expectations for a true "next-gen" handheld game. If I had to choose a second title that wasn't Wipeout, I'd roll up the Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3. It plays quite well on the Vita's clicky D-pad, and other than the lack of animation on the backgrounds when compared to the bigger console version feels otherwise intact. It's super crisp, vivid, fast fighting, with enough to do to keep ya busy for a while. Lumines seems to be everyone else's runner up, but I myself am still on the fence there. If it were $25 I would already have it, but for $35 I just don't feel it's really enough of a change from the 2 PSP Lumines games and the 360 one to warrant another purchase. That said, if you haven't already gotten your fill of Lumines, it's got nice crisp visuals and sounds great on headphones! Otherwise, I'd say roll with some Hot Shots Golf. It's not the prettiest Vita game, but it's a load of fun (if you like casual golf games, because that's ALL it is)! You have some options, my friend, which for LAUNCH DAY is quite impressive. Even with the titles that got delayed until May, there's still a lot to play! |

Silly question, Spig, but would you say Super Stardust is worth the paltry $10 entry fee?

Yeah. It's a great little showpiece for the system if you want to show the thing off to people. It is fast to play and pretty universal in appeal and shows how pretty the display is, plus it uses the gyros to move the background around which got lots of Oohs and Aaahs last week when I showed it off.
I look at Lumines like I look at Katamari. It's basically the same game in each iteration but the core mechanic is so solid I can't help love it.

If you preordered the 3g version that comes out tomorrow, you get Super Stardust sometime later as a free download. Just FYI, if that hasn't already been stated in here.
