I'm glad I decided to get a new 3D Blu-Ray player. I am very serious about my audio and that is unacceptable to me. It also loads discs much faster than the PS3. Hopefully they will fix the issue in a future update.

Eh another useless feature for me. I have yet to see any 3D movies in the theaters. I also don't even own a HDTV

So Blu-ray as a whole is useless to you.

Maybe it's because the PS3 still only has HDMI 1.3, and there's not enough bandwidth or some limitation in the protocol for both 3D and lossless audio?

I just got a HDMI receiver and I love HD audio (Joe Public probably couldn't tell the difference). I'm not interested in being a beta tester for 3D technology so this doesn't affect me but I'd be pissed if I owned 3D blurays and a 3D tv because those people definitely care about their audio/video quality.

Wait - if it's not a 3D movie can we still get lossless?

I can hear a difference when I toggle between Dolby Digital and Dolby True HD on certain blu-rays but that maybe because I'm just hearing an increase in loudness/bass/treble/etc based on the receiver is processing the signal.

I've seen plenty of 3D movies in theaters but I'm already tired of the effect. No way do I want it on my TV. Give me full virtual reality to the extent of a holodeck, perhaps without the touchy/feely aspects (that would be creepy), or leave my damn 2D alone.
Have we really hit the wall with both processor power AND graphics now to the extent that we have to move sideways and only enhance graphics via 3D and only enhance processor performance via parallelism? That does not bode well for the human race.

And this is why you'll probably regret getting the 1st gen of 3d Tvs.

Didn't I just read a thread telling me Blu-ray is a dead format?
Another 3.50 update that less than *5% of people are going to care about. You can now use the Move wand to navigate the web. * 5% number pulled from my anus. |

yeah pretty much. I use my PS3 for PS2 and PS1 games. Also loading the HDD with movies. I rarely use the blu ray.

Sure, there's going to be a different sound, but that certainly doesn't mean it's a BETTER sound.

Bluray isn't dead, Bluray is awesome! Unless these idiot companies get it through their head that I want to DOWNLOAD the movie, not STREAM it and lose 5.1 audio, let alone HD audio, and deal with possible hiccups in the stream, Bluray will dominate all my movie watching. Only a fool would deem streaming superior to Bluray right now.

I love my 3D TV, the effect is far better than any RealD movie I have watched in the theater and I have seen almost all of them. I can't wait for some game releases that match the quality of the 3D Blu-Rays. I skipped Shadow of the Colossus because it was on PS2 so I am very much looking forward to that in 3D as well as Killzone 3. |
