Again, don't forget that Sega has shown nothing but absolute ineptitude when marketing RPGs of all stripes (be they Yakuzas, Infinite Spaces or Valkyria Chronicleses) over here in NA. They seem to just shove them out the door with little fanfare (hell, half the time the only people aware of them are those of us who live and breathe this stuff) and even do really stupid things like putting Yakuza 3 out, what the week of or week after FFXIII's NA launch... Sigh.

At least the games are really good, but there's a reason most of us bite our nails whenever Sega announces an interesting/good JRPG being localized here because if it IS good, we're sure it'll die and then any hope for a sequel is nebulous at best.

The PSP is big in Japan so it's not surprising. I think a PS3 version would have done fine in Japan in light of recent PS3 sales so it's a little disappointing for those wanting HD Valkyria.

January 27, 2011, in Japan. No multiplayer, greater focus on singleplayer over VC2. More directed, less mission based. More command options. "quality over quantity" approach to classes. Reason for PSP: need revolutionary changes for a new console release. Still room to expand game on PSP. Pick up and play-ability, for those with less time.

Every other game I think of in the last few years has been exclusive due to money hats. I see only Japanese devs not getting money hats for being exclusive. Shit is kind of dumb, no it's really dumb.
And you would be bitching up a storm about a game not being on a PS3 even though you own a 360.

I don't feel that VC is worth $360 (gotta buy a new console!) to me.

I would be annoyed, yeah, but it happens. I'm not going to bitch and whine like a child and call the developers and publishers idiots. Did you feel the same way when 2K announced XCOM as a 360 exclusive? How about Splinter Cell Conviction? Divinity 2? Risen? Prey 2? Or Left4Dead? What's good for one should be good for another, shouldn't it? Or is it different when it's a western dev making a 360 exclusive for no apparent reason?

The nerd rage it's getting isn't because it's on the PSP it's because it isn't on the PS3. The series was birthed and started on the PS3. Gamers bought the system and the game and loved it, then they switched platforms on them. Doesn't matter what platform it went to, it wasn't on the platform it started on and where the fan base was created. THAT'S where it's coming from. You are blinded in your search for console wars but you're not seeing the main picture on why people are upset over this.

Yes, exclusive games that aren't made by the console owner is stupid across the board regardless of what system you are talking about. IMO all third party exclusives should die and I've been saying this for years no matter what system is being discussed.

We may not be seeing more VC titles if they weren't on the PSP. The amount of time and money it takes to make a PSP game is far less than what would be needed for a PS3 (or PS3/360) release. Without knowing the behind the scenes circumstances as to why it's being done that way it's short sighted to call putting VC2 and 3 on the PSP stupid.

That's a sentiment I can get behind, but the reality of it is, especially for smaller niche games, the budget allotted for the game may not allow for a multiplatform release.

Sure, but you're talking about a game made from scratch. Let's remember that the engine for the PS3 version is done. It's all just content from this point forward to do a PS3 version which is insanely cheaper than a game from the ground up. All the heavy lifting was already paid for.

I think all games should be multiplatform. It's not just here that people are pissed about this decision... pretty much every forum across the web is lit up about it. Fans of the original are the most pissed and they have every right to be for Sega changing platforms on them.
