Eff Grant Morrison. Eff him in the spine.
I am a Batman fan.
This, I am sure, is obvious. Grant Morrison is fucking crazy. If you have read his Batman RIP or even heard about his return of Bruce Wayne story arc, then this is also obvious. Seriously? Pirate Batman? Caveman Batman? He is writing fucking fanfic. Am I being too critical? Is anyone out there enjoying Reading about Batman quantum leaping through space/time to the past/future to get back the magic amulet and destroy the one ring? |

Honestly, other than his early work on 2000AD, and of course Arkham Asylum, I've never really thought Morrison was that good anyway.

Grant Morrison needs to be removed from the Batbooks immediately. You and I see eye to eye, Crusader.

Superman's Dead and others I trust speak very Highly of The Invisibles. I have read stuff by him that I liked, but I gag at the thought of RIP.

It seems that some comic book writers are like this - they have a couple really good ideas and then they just spend the rest of their career doing super weird shit. Frank Miller, Jeph Loeb, Grant Morrison.
Who knows what the reasoning behind it is? It was actually Batman RIP that convinced me to stop collecting monthly comic books and just pick up TPBs of stories that others have highly rated. I couldn't deal with his retardedly bizarre "story" lines. |

I'm currently not buying comics and while I might not like the actual RIP plot, I like the end game and what it means for Batman going forward. At least from what I've read about what's planned after. We'll have to see what they can deliver once Bruce gets back home.

As for you being too critical? I think if I was a younger Santa, the obsessed comic fan I was, I probably think the same. However, you being a Batman fan you know his history. There has been some weird shit done with the character. In retrospect I think it's really cool that Batman has that eccentric history. I love when writers do different stuff. Doesn't mean it always works but I don't see a pirate Batman or Caveman Batman as insane as it might sound. I really need to read more of Batman. Morrison may drag me back to collecting even if it is for a few titles. Quote:
I think bizarre story lines are part of reading super hero comics. These characters are around so long to write something new all the time, sometimes it does delve into different territory. I think often when the work is reflected upon it's a lot better than when reading it as it's happening. Just my 2 cents since I've been that rabid comic fan and looking through a lot of my collection, stories that I hated back then now I see from a different perspective.

Morrison's a good writer when he's on a series. He just needs to be kept away from any sort of crossover or events.

The return of Bruce Wayne has been fantastic. I am enjoying it far more than Batman RIP.

Honestly, I always like Batman Beyond. The idea that Bruce Wayne would get too old and injured to do it anymore, and just basically sulk all the time, alone, all his old friends having moved on, until somebody worthy took up the torch.

Obviously this all subjective. I just prefer when Batman is in Gotham fighting guys with guns. Normal guys like drug traffickers and dudes with melted faces and weird murder fetishes. That'a my favorite version of Batman. like everything from No Man's Land forward. And Year one. Year one is the shit. Respectfully. |

Give it a couple years and the storyline will be forgotten/reconned out of existence.

Agree. I think Morrison sucks at writing anything that isn't his own IP. His X-men run was absolutely godawful.

When I heard about this on the gaF I thought...what the heck?
Now, I'm just going to pretend it's all just a dream. It's all just a dream.
