In Other News...August 2

- Gearbox honcho Randy Pitchford announced on Twitter that publisher Take Two has approved more DLC for Borderlands. Details on the DLC to follow at a future date.

- ModNation Racers will finally be getting the long awaited patch that will, among other things, shorten the ridiculous load times the game suffers from. By how much? They don't say, but we'll know on Wednesday.

- PSN has started their Summer Sale here. PS3 and PSP games up to half off.

- Microsoft and Lionhead have launched the Fable III "Villager Maker" web app. This tool will let you create a character who will inhabit a village in the game. Those who pre-order the game can input a code and the created character will show up in-game to give you a quest.

- Killzone developer Guerrilla Games has a new property in the works, presumably next in the queue after 2011's Killzone 3.

Too late, in my opinion. The insane load times should've never made it past QA. I rented it two months after release and it was unbearable. Sent it back and haven't missed it one bit.

Well that's a new approach to getting a preorder.
I was going to pick it up anyway, so this should be neat.
It will probably be pretty limited, But I'll be damned if I'm not going to make the craziest looking toon I can.
Edit: yeah It's limited, plus it's running a little sluggish, so I'll try again later

I think I'm gonna grab Pixel Junk Shooter (I've never played any of those games before) and Lunar from the PSN sale.

I heard about how bad the load times were, even from fans, and that was a definate deal-breaker for me. I'll wait until the patch is live and give it a rent, but sounds like it's too late.

It's neat that they've got the tool available, but lame that it's tied to a pre-order.

I've been really impressed with the current Borderlands DLC. I grabbed all 3 during the sale and have been pottering about with high and low level characters. General Knoxx is half the goddamn size of the game itself.

I really wish more companies would put the same effort Gearbox have done with the extra content. I'll probably buy the 4th espansion day one.

Oooh, PixelJunk Shooter for only $5? And available for ALL members unlike most 360 sales? Nice. I have $5 in my bank on PSN, gonna grab that if I can remember.

There's a demo, but I haven't gotten around to trying it yet. I've got it on my PSP, if I can remember I'll give it a whirl on my lunch break.

It's really worth it, it's a great little game. I need to play it more, I've barely touched it past the first set of levels.

I'm really curious on the ModNation Racers patch, I loved the game when a friend brought it over but those load times were a real deal breaker. Literally 60+ seconds, it was ridiculous. I'll have to ask him to try it tomorrow to see how much it improves things. It's a great game otherwise with an incredibly user friendly track editor, I hope this is a big improvement. Even 30 seconds I could live with.

One request for Gearbox: please add more than one fast travel station for each new DLC pack. General Knoxx can be a blast, but having to trek for 15 minutes just to get to the start of a mission can be a bit of a drag.

Lunar for $15 seems like a winner to me. I'll have to see how much space I have on my memory card.

It would be a way to do ModNation Racers without bad load times.

It would be a way to play those God Of War PSP Exclusive games.

But then no one would have a real reason for a PSP.

Except for, you know, the portability and all........

You could just use the PSP tv out cable. It's far from ideal but it worked for me when I wanted to play Silent Hill with some friends. Personally, I'd much rather see my psp games on the screen they were designed for. Whether at home or on the go.

Then I'd have to have a PSP! I just want to play some games on my PS3. They can do it, just as they are able to make some PSN games like FFVII work on both.

Will be snagging Pixeljunk Shooter and Groovin Blocks. My trophy count could use some serious boosting compared to my gamerscore. Level 4 trophies vs 54K score.
