Would anyone here be interested in doing a Album of the Week kinda thing? We choose an album once a week (any album, any genre, any time period) and at the end of the week we could discuss, post thoughts, etc.?
It doesn't even have to be weekly. Monthly, bi-weekly, whatever. I just thought a week would give us all ample time to listen to the album once or twice.

I'd be down for doing an Album of the Week. I like being judgmental and I hate 90% of things, so I see it being good for me.

"Ana Ng" by They Might Be Giants, from Lincoln

I'm not sure if this is my absolute favourite TMBG song, but it's undoubtedly in my top five.

I used to do something like this on EvAv, except it was at the end of every month and three albums as opposed to one. I didn't get very many replies/page views so I concluded that the interest just wasn't there .

But hell, new site, let's give it ago, shall we?

Sure. Your plan actually sounds better. How did you select the albums? Is a poll a good idea? Or does that just get us listening to the same stuff?
Anyone have any ideas?

Loveless - My Bloody Valentine.

Ever since I've seen them, this went from a "listen to it monthly" to a "listen to it daily" record.

Excellent video, too!

"The Curse Of Baba Yaga"
by Emerson, Lake and Palmer from Pictures at an Exhibition - Mussorgsky

Amazing classical/rock crossover!

I simply selected artists/albums that I thought deserved more of an audience. What then I would do is put some effort into this thread: myspace, last.fm, wikipedia (band information) links, include album art, give a description of what I thought about the album. I'd then explain what genre this album falls under, yada yada yada (and so forth), for the purpose of other people potentially becoming a fan of a certain band/artist.

Aphex Twin - Rhubarb / Selected Ambient Works Volume II (limited edition)

They're playing the game wrong. Cool colors don't get as many points as the warm points.
Awesome song though.

With that song being in both Rock Band 2 as well as NHL 09, I've gotten incredibly tired of it due to my playing those games basically all the time.

Currently listening: Quicksand - David Bowie

Fuck yes. I've only discovered this album a couple of months ago, but it's getting plenty of play on my mp3 player lately, along with You Made Me Realize and Isn't Anything.
