Too Awesome For Words: Team Portress (TF2 + Portal Mod)

There's cool. There's awesome. There's so awesomely cool that you can't even ponder the level of awesome. And then there's Team Portress, a mod which mashes up the multiplayer madness of Team Fortress 2 with the puzzle solving of Portal.

Outwardly, the mod is simplicity itself. In addition to your normal TF2 weapons, you also have a Portal gun. (Behind the scenes, it's a different story. This was not an easy mod to make) Some changes were made. Portals "expire" after a short time and can be canceled with the reload command to avoid endless loops. Mod maker Pawn also had to make the portals opaque to make them work in a 32 player game. And there are still some rough edges and bugs. But come on, you know you want to play it.

Now if someone could only incorporate Left 4 Dead into the game, we may have world peace.

Could make for some interesting game play. I really do think that only one player/class should have access to it considering others can use your portals. Otherwise with 16 players a team, 2 portals each, there'll be 64 portals on the map.

This just reminds me of the sadness that is me. I haven't finnsihed Portal and never played TF at all. :/

Giving it to every class is overkill, but if they added Chell as a 10th class with portals that you could see through and shoot through it would be epic.

Well, now's a great time to play Portal. It's free on the PC and Mac until 5/24.

How can you not have finished Portal? I can understand not playing it at all, but the game is tiny.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed at all the text bubbles that pop up during Youtube videos?

Other than that this looks pretty cool.

I like the part at the end where they are chatting. It sounds like they're having a good time.

Nope, I always turn off annotations. If the author wants me to know something, he can put a time and a comment in the description.

Just downloaded Portal and I hope to make it to TF2 Thursday this week. The addition of the portals seems a little too much for me, but it looks amazing.

With dozens of portals I bet you could set up some pretty great perpetual flight paths!

I'm kind of sad that Wackman no longer invites me to the game every Thursday.

I guess he gave up after months of trying.
