Nier

No thread about Nier.

It's kind of slow paced, it feels sort of like a Zelda-ish game. The main character goes "I GOTTA MAKE MONEY! AND CURE MY DAUGHTERS SICKNESS!" uhh the intro has a loud-mouthed female swearing her head off. It's not bad.. but it's not great. It's also quite easy to make fun of, the girlfriend and I were playing it for about an hour and mocking it.

We named the hero Zebra (pronounced Zee Bra) and his double jump is a PELVIC THRUST! The game is just... kind of old-school-ish, but not in a bad way.

I gameflyed it, not sure if I'd pay cash-money for it.. but it might be fun until it gets too boring. It also has a village that is more open than 95% of Final Fantasy XIII.

Bargain bin, but I do want to check it out. The trailers at least had some impressive art design at times.

I refuse to pay full price for this one - especially since it seems to be $65 here in my region of Canuckistan.

From what I saw being played its actually pretty deep too. Its weird, it looks really bad at times but has some great design. If they had brought the heavy graphics guns into it, I think it would have been pretty damn good.

Whoa.. the game has got some stuff to do.

The story where I am at is fairly boring still, I got the Magic book, unlocked BOAR RIDING (they can POWERSLIDE!) did some fishing, unlocked the weapon upgrade shop, tons of sidequests, the power word weapon modding stuff. Yeah, the game has quite a bit to it, and it's fairly old school in many ways.

I may have to pick this up. Buzz on several boards is that it's actually pretty good. The main negative poiint being the graphics can look dated at some points.

Graphics are dated, and the game IS NOT GREAT. Most of the reviews out there have the issue of the game being enjoyable, but lacking in the qualities that make a game great. It has some ideas, and it's not afraid to do different things.

There was a short segment that was a 2D platformer that involved shooting bullets at guys on other platforms. There was also an onrails 2D shooter section.

The game has cool ideas, it just hasn't had enough work to bring the ideas in it up to high quality standards.

I think it's cool and all, but I don't recommend buying the game at full price.
I think I am going to label it as the JRPG that is the antithesis of Final Fantasy 13's statement on what JRPGs should be.

That does sound kinda fun, even if it's haldf assed. I wish they did bring in the big guns, could have been greta.

Need to get out of here before I make another impulse buy.

Fuck this fucking game in it's fucking ass.
It's got so many broken, shitty fucking things and poor pacing that anything and everything that it does well is overshadowed by the fucking crappiness of everything else.

The final boss fight took me 2 extra minutes because of just pure spam attacks at me that kept me juggled from hit to hit while I popped potions, and not quick juggles.. the horrible shitty Lost Planet style where you watch your character slowly get up.. and he gets hit during the animation and starts all over.

The worst part? At the end...
you are asked "who do I love more than anyone else in the world?" and you are supposed to enter the name of your character. I do so (Zebra) and it doesn't work. Nor does ZEBRA, zebra, or anything else. The fucking game is fucking broken at the end.
In short.. for everything good this game does, it does at least one stupid/crappy thing to ofset it, often more. Main reason people like it is because they want for it to be a good game so badly they refuse to see just how crappy the level designs are, how poor the combat is, the fact the game is in a very small world, almost every single sidequest was done better in WoW 5 and a half years ago, the plot is shit and the fishing is the worst minigame in the history of the shit, and ugh I just want to finish the game but it's impossible.

**edit**
Got the thing to work, there was space at the end, funny.. I don't recall ever seeing it before.
