Panasonic Viera

Anyone know much about the Panasonic Viera's? I'm looking for a new TV for the basement and I'm considering the Panasonic Viera X2 and before I go dropping $400 on a new TV I was hoping to get a few opinions.

Vieras are some of the best gaming TV's there are. They have among the lowest, if not THE lowest response times you can get for a TV... so very minimal input lag = perfect for gaming.

Look them up on AVS Forums if you need more info. I was actually thinking about getting one myself.

That's actually really good since it's primary focus will be gaming. won't even have a cable feed down there it'll just be for wii/ps2/xbox and streaming netflix type stuff.

Anyone happen to know what's different between the X1 and X2 models? i can't find anything about it. If I order through amazon I'll be going X2 because the X1s aren't sold by amazon directly so I can't use my prime shipping. But I'm still curious what has changed.

Umm, resolution I believe. If I remember correctly, X1 = 720p, and X2 = 1080p. Can you link me to the model you're interested in?

Ha. I could only get the first page to load so I assumed that's the only difference let me try again.

New one weighs less
.5 inches larger for the new one
SD video gone from the new one.

Gotcha, guess I was expecting something more dramatic and I'm not sure why. Off to best buy tonight to see a few TVs in action then I'll likely be pulling the trigger on this later tonight or tomorrow unless I find evidence of some horror story somewhere. thanks for the feedback

I just got an X1 and I love it. I went to HH Greggs, and since I bought 'last year's model,' I talked them down an extra $50.

I have a 42'' 1080p Viera as well, one of last years THC-xxxx models. I looked at alot of panels and this one easily stood out above the rest in terms of aesthetics, overall picture quality and multiple inputs on the front and back.

Just remember that plasma sets are much better in rooms with little to no direct sunlight, as the glass of the panel reflects alot of sunlight.

This room actually gets alot of light. It's in the basement but it has a full sized window so it can be considered a bedroom. I ended up ordering the 32" Viera X2 last night, should be here Wed.

I also am a fan of the Viera plasmas. They're great sets. But for the price, I slightly prefer similar Samsung sets in the models I looked at.

I got my 32" Panasonic Viera about 3 years ago; cost a lot more then than they do now. I've been pleased with it. Believe it's this model. I'd like to upgrade to something a little bigger, in the next year or two, but would buy Panasonic again.

Bought the X1 for my dorm room last semester. It's very nice. I use it for gaming and light TV watching, my roommate uses the iPod dock to play electronic music while I'm gone.

So I got this thing in and hooked up earlier in the week and last night we hooked up a 360 to it with an HDMI cable. I am so far very pleased with the purchase. The picture quality is great, in some ways it's a cleaner picture than my 56" Samsung DLP but I think some of that might be due to size vs. resolution of games and what not. Also for built in speakers the sound really isn't bad.

Just wait, it will only get better. As with most plasmas, they have a bit of a "break in" time where you should keep the contrast and brightness lowered for the first 50-100 hours. Not sure the reasoning behind it, but after a couple months of owning my TV and re-calibrating the color settings, it looked day and night different from when I first purchased.

I've never thought of Panasonic as a maker of anything really high end in the electronics world, having owned plenty of their smaller lined electronics, (cordless phones, home/car audio, batteries etc) but man do they ever make a fine television set.
