Hmmm for the 90's team, I'm thinking about switching out Quinn Mallory for Samantha Carter from Stargate. She's smarter and can hold her own in a fight. Also, adding government liaison Fox Mulder. I like the suggestion of The Dude, but I think his claim to fame is being a thoroughly unextraodinary individual thrust into an extraordinary situation.

So now we have:

Samantha Carter
Cordell Walker
Fox Mulder
Buffy Summers

We still need someone else. Lara Croft? Solid Snake? Gordon Freeman?

What about the 70's?

Bruce Lee is definitely in, as is Dirty Harry...

By the end of The Big Lebowski, The Dude seemed to have found his calling as a detective, in that sense he'd be Sherlock Holmes for the 90s.

Late to the party, so let me say this, and I shall willingly be shunned by it:

I hated the Tim Burton Batman movies, so of the four original Batmans, I liked Batman Forever the best.

Exhibit A: Jack was great as the Joker, but...Kim Basinger? Prince? Michael Keaton? Commissioner Gordon in a fat suit? Batwing shot down with a single bullet, made worse by the terrible special effects? Really?

Exhibit B: Batman Returns was awful. I can't even start where, it's just all terrible.

I had exceedingly low expectations for Batman Forever, but I liked Jim Carrey at the time and was also hot for Nicole Kidman. So I saw it, and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. Gordon was still in a fat suit, I actually liked O'Donnell as Robin. It was campy, sure, but no worse than the camp in Burton's two flicks. And Jim Carrey was over-the-top perfect as the Riddler. Yes, Two-Face was a caricature, but overall I enjoyed it the most.

There. Fire away. Anyone care to tell me why Burton's Batmans were considered better/less campy than the third movie? B&R was awful, really, no argument there, but you can't tell me that the first two were 'worlds' better than the third.

I was surprised how much I liked Michael Keaton, not so much as Batman but as Bruce Wayne. He played Bruce as someone who truly never grew up and has trouble knowing what to do with people he isn't punching.

Batman Returns... well I liked Catwoman, and not just because of the outfit. Hell I'm a Bat/Cat shipper from way back, of course I liked that part, Penguin.... I'll freely give you that.

Mind you, Jim Carrey was fucking terrible as Riddler, it was just Jim Carrey playing the Riddler being his normal asshole self. At no point in Dark Knight did I think that was Heath Ledger playing a character, he simply was The Joker.

I...well, I don't disagree that Jim Carrey was being Jim Carrey. I grew up watching the Adam West 'Batman' reruns, so Riddler was Frank Gorshin for me, which Jim Carrey had a similar vibe, which I liked. I mean, how did you expect the Riddler to act that wasn't Jim Carrey-esque?

And you're right about Ledger/Joker. But the same can't be said for Jack/Joker, Jack Nicholson was playing Jack Nicholson in Joker makeup, but that fit the part: why can't the same be said about Carrey/Riddler?

Jack was indeed just playing himself, why I never defended his performance Jack did in fairness manage to blur the line quite a bit, sometimes you did actually forgot it was Jack on screen rather then the Joker

The 60s version of Eddie was largely taken over by the Joker from the late 70s onwards, it was this Joker Jack played, thus making Carrey's Riddler even more redundant then it already was.

Riddler these days is a subdued obsessive compulsive jerk, he's not evil per say, he just wants a big pile of money to live comfortably and to prove he's smarter then Batman.

Yeah I don't get the Batman Forever beef either. I thought it was the best of the original bunch. Keaton never quite cut it as Batman for me, and Clooney was an absolute nightmare. Kilmer was by far the best Batman. I wasn't a huge fan of Carrey's Riddler. Just way too type-cast for him, seemed like every other character he'd played up until that point. I did think Tommy Jones made an excellent Two-face.

And don't even get me started on the soundtrack. That Seal Song? Kissed by a Rose or whatever? That shit was the JAM on the pre-teen dance circuit. Even the ugly kids found someone to dance with for that song.

By the way, a great explanation of why Tim Burton's Batman films were shitty. Jump to 4:27 if you lack patience.

Well, he made something of a douche of himself over the Cop Out reviews. I don't follow himthough, so there could be other incidents I missed.
