I know the iPhone has four or five iterations at this point, but for the most part it's still a uniform system, from a layman's perspective. I use my old 3G as a fancy iPod (I gave up on AT&T but kept the phone) and I can still download tons of apps to this day and they work fine. Apple itself will release features that are only compatible with their newer phones (of course, they are in the business of making money), but with the apps I have found that almost all I can use on my iPad 2 I can use on my old 3G (within reason, of course).

Between the many of versions of Android and the many versions of OS "skins" thrown on by cell manufacturers I feel it's just a shitty OS, for me. I know for many power users the Android system is heaven, but for the average user such as myself it's a shithole. Hate on Apple all you want, they make things easy to understand and easy to learn.

If there was ever even the smallest modicum of doubt that you were a hipster, this just removed it.

That reminds me of a story:

Jello Biafra was walking around San Francisco (or Oakland, I can't remember) and was beat up by a bunch of "punks" for being a poseur. Jello Biafra, trail-fucking-blazer and a true legend.

Moral of the story: You can all suck my cock, you ain't my peers.

Enjoying craft beers makes me a hipster? All of the hipsters I know drink shitty beer, like PBR. Try again, hipster. I'm not the one who wears a fedora, aviator glasses, and goes around hanging out with "artists" and working on my own indie film project. I live in a neighborhood filled with hipsters. I know one when I see one.

The hipsters I know say that I'm too mainstream. Ha!

Yep. Because it wasn't until all the cool kids were doing it that you did! Tell me, Mr. Craft Beer, when exactly did this habit of yours form?

And I live in a neighborhood with people that have been here 30+ years. The neighbors I see most are One Legged George and Robert The Biker. My building is full of Puerto Ricans, Mexicans and Ecuadorians.

Typical hipster, knows nothing about the past because it's not trendy. Tsk tsk. I guess you'll have to wait until Hot Topic makes a Jello Biafra t-shirt before bothering to find out!

Sure I'd like to, but the cost is too high. We were actually planning a fairly big trip next year but have cancelled it for financial reasons.

This is the closest I could get to a Dead Kennedy facepalm.

You're quite off base there, Mr. Smarty Pants. I started getting into beer a few years ago as my tastebuds changed. I enjoy a lot of things that I couldn't stand four or five years ago, including beer (of nearly all styles, as long as it's good beer), dark chocolate, hummus, etc. It had nothing to do with what the "cool kids" were doing. Keep in mind that I'm 27, so I've only been legally able to drink for six and a half years. It's not like I was drinking martinis for ten years and then switched to beer because it was "hip".

Wait, why am I defending myself to you? ARGH, you just enjoy yanking my chain!

If this Orange Jello Bi-afro person actually mattered I would have heard of him. Clearly you're the hipster, Mr. "I know who this guy is because I'm all underground and shit".

For the record, I haven't been into a Hot Topic since in over six years. I buy most of my clothes at thrift stores.

Damn, I walked right into that one.

I hate you so much right now. -_-

That guy is holding a PBR! That's not a craft beer!

I would never dress like any of those douchebags.

Mags, it's because of you that Rolling Stone's Internet poll put Green Day above the Clash, Black Flag, Bad Brains, and THE DEAD KENNEDYS in their best punk band of all time list. You did this.

Well, it's true that I've listened to Green Day quite often over the years and have rarely (if ever) listened to any of the other groups that you mentioned. Then again I'm not really a big music aficionado in general.

I'm going to run away now before you lot grab the torches and pitchforks.

Honestly, that Green Day won despite their obvious debts to all the bands on that list, doesn't surprise me. I know most people I meet haven't heard of those bands, maybe Sex Pistols and the Ramones. But the Dead Kennedys are important if you want to understand the history of punk.

And Jello Biafra is also a very compelling speaker. His spoken-word stuff can be really great, especially his bit on the history of pot prohibition. He doesn't smoke.

I've heard of all those bands you listed. I just haven't listened to them much, if at all.
