So Apparently PS3s Are Out of Stock.......

....as in everywhere. My brother called me up today asking if I knew where he could get one (he's a huge fan of God of War, so he had already preordered his copy of 3), apparently they were hard to find.

So doing some looking around for him online tonight, yeah, they're damn near impossible to find, 120GB or 250GB. Amazon is out of stock (only resellers), Best Buy is out of stock, Target is out of stock, GameStop is out of stock, everywhere. I can't find a single store in within a 100 mile radius that has any in stock. Hell, I even tried K-Mart's site.

What the hell?

From a cursory viewpoint - they have been having supply issues with 250G ones for awhile; I am a bit surprised by 120G though. When I was last in my Best Buy - last Friday there were still 120Gs available. I just checked on their site - says no longer.

One of my co-workers is also looking for one and having a hard time finding it. I figured they would magically release a bunch today with the release of GoW3, but that doesn't seem to be. They must have serious supply issues and are probably weeping right now with a potential system seller now out.

I guess it was hard to gauge how much of a system-seller GOW is for Sony. PS2s sold by the ton every week when the other games came out. They shot themselves in the foot here.

I had pre-ordered GOW but now am waiting for GS' B2G1 deal next week.

I haven't seen a 250 GB model since about 2 weeks before last Christmas. In fact, I haven't seen many now that you mentioned it. Odd...

Well, I saw a Slim last night when I was getting GoW3. At least I think I did, it was on a rack so it could have been a display box. I got in, got the game, and left pretty quick.

EDIT: Just checked Gamestop.com, and there are three stores within an hour or so of me who have the 120GB Slims.

I'm curious to see the NPD numbers. I want to see how much of an impact God of War III will produce on Console Sales.

My Guess is that the end result will not be insignificant.

I drop by my local Walmart a couple times a week and there haven't been any PS3's there for awhile. I don't think they've had a shipment for a bit.

Yup, just helped my brother pick up his shiny new LCD TV. While we were out searching for a good deal, he mentioned he also wanted a PS3. Well it shouldn't be so hard to find one?, right?. I just saw them everywhere two weeks ago! Well, two Bestbuys, two Gamestops, a Kmart, a Walmart, and a Fry's later, and no PS3s to be found at all.

..and there were X360 deals, EVERYWHERE, and piles upon piles of unsold bundle-versions.

Gamestop's website tells me there are 7 stores around me that are out of stock, but there's one 15 miles away that has 120 Slims.

All three consoles are old. There should be tons of all of them. Running into supply problems because your system is no longer 4th in a 3-man race is not good news. It's just weird news.

Yeah, tons of 360s out in store only means MS knows how to keep stores stocked. This isn't even Christmas.

It would be highly amusing if the 360 beats out the PS3 because of supply constraints ... this time legitimate supply constraints. A couple of months ago, Sony warned about an upcoming shortage. With FF13 and GoW coming out Sony the same month, Sony would have been smart to push back God of War until June.
