Interesting. I wonder how well each of those investments paid off. Did Too Human make a profit?

I remember when it came out that FF7 cost over 30 mill, it was unheard of.

The game has sold over 10 mill copies tho. So.. i think they did ok.

That screen from Too Human looks pretty awesome... Almost enough for me to give it another shot this summer. It was amusing, if not polished or particularly amazing.

I'm pretty sure Too Human bombed. GTA4 I bet got it's money's worth. Their voice acting payoffs alone were probably near $50mil.

I know it was never released, but shouldn't Duke Nukem Forever be on there? How much did they pour into that game over 12 years?

Oh Shenmue. Still (along with Shenmue 2) one of my favourite games ever created. I'm still to this sad that we never got the full experience and story, as it was shaping up to be quote awesome. Always will hold a place in my heart as the "could have been" game of my generation.

Wow. I would loved to have seen profits, as others have said; hell even just gross without profit. GTA IV did surprise me, I admit.

I wonder what kind of total WoW would come in at, if you counted all the development, expansions, ongoing maintenance & support. It makes gobs of money, obviously.

Is LA Noir even still coming out? I haven't heard anything about it in years. I was really looking forward to it, like......3 years ago.

Well that's good to hear. It sounds like it's going to be fantastic. Especially this part :

most of 1940s Los Angeles has been recreated and is fully explorable.
The graphics look insane too, I just hope it can live up to the hype. Like when they say things like:

L.A. Noire’s groundbreaking facial-animation system in action, and learn how it might change the way we look at games from now on.

Wow, I'm surprised GTA IV topped that list. I like the game, but I'm not sure it was worth 100 million dollars...

I am looking forward to L.A. Noire, though, so here's hoping that ends up being worth the time and money they've apparently put into it.

The surprising thing to me was how unimpressive that list of games was. I enjoyed GTA4 and Halo3 was ok, but none of those games would get anywhere near my list of favorites (unless one of the upcoming titles is a real surprise). I mean, I play a ton of games, and 6 of those 10 games I've never even had an interest in playing.

It just seems easier to completely blow money in the games industry than in other forms of entertainment.

APB looks like it's already hemorrhaging money and it isn't even out yet.

I'm guessing Too Human and Killzone 2 both lost some cash (although the former a lot more).
