I can pretty much guarantee that name isn't traditional. I used to work in an Atlanta school and the names I came across were unforgettable. It's a strange cultural thing. I actually had kids in my classes named Destiny and Asia.

Like BigJonno, I assumed some of the stranger names were traditional. Another staff member informed me that none of them were. They're just strange for the sake of being strange.

I've just been researching Aramaic/Arabian names for my dervish in Guild Wars, settled on Samia which had a million variations including that one I believe.

The sad thing is that after years of riding the bus that conversation didn't even make me bat an eye. I still didn't understand most of it, but it hardly surprised me either. At least every other word wasn't "motherfucker".

No more than any other demographic research you wish to name. Then again the book does make the case that the largest single act ever in reducing crime in the US was to legalise abortion so it's not exactly shy about saying things that might up set people heh but ya mostly that chapter is just about the naming habbits and the reasoning behind them like how silly upper class names are used to try and set there kids apart or how some one names his kids loser and winner and winner ended up in jail and loser ended up a well respected police officer.
