Henry Rollins - Vancouver
Went out to see Henry Rollins last night.
It was a good show...one of his shows that always makes me want to just pack up and travel after listening to him talk about his adventures. He's still steering towards a much more political message than he has in the past, but he's always well thought out and enjoyable show. As always, he gives you plenty of bang for you buck, going for 3 hours straight without even stopping to sip some of the water that was down by his feet. I meant to take some pictures, but was too caught up in his persona to even think about sneaking out my iPhone for a picture. If you are even remotely a fan, you owe it to yourself to go and see this years show. Yes, he admits he was just touring last year, but he's careful to not retread old thoughts and stories. |

He spoke at my college a few years back and it was one of the most entertaining shows the college put on.
Fortunately for me, he has his own radio show where I'm at now. Unfortunately, his energy doesn't translate well onto the radio (he comes off as pretty annoying, actually). |

My fiancee and I saw him perform at my alma mater last year and it was quite a show. He did the same thing where he went for at least three hours without stopping or drinking water. Despite the length, he was engaging the whole time, and when we left, my fiancee and I really wanted to travel.
We had some dumbasses who set up a punk rock concert outside the performance hall, and were waiting to surprise Henry with it. After two and a half hours they must have gotten tired of waiting and stormed the balcony to tell Henry what they had for him. Henry talks a lot about how anxious a person he is, especially before a show, so everyone watching him knew this was exactly the sort of thing to freak him out. The exchange went something like: "Henry, come outside, we have a punk rock show for you!!!" "Huh? What the hell? But I'm talking to these people." "But we made it just for you!!" "Uh...sorry? These people invested their time in me, the least I can do is respect that." "But it's for youuuuu!" "Bye bye" *general whimpering as they slough off defeated* |

Right on cue, Scott.
![]() Henry and Bruce Campbell are both on my shit list at the moment because I'm not going to get to see either one of them on tour this year. The Genitorturers, however, are in my good graces because they're going to be playing in L.A. this Sunday. Everyone go see Henry, Bruce and Gen if you can. They entertain!
