Huh, obviously the 360 would sell more copies, but I didn't think it'd be over twice as much.

That's usually the norm unless Sony pays for extra marketing on the title (like Batman). Look at Assassin's Creed II numbers, they fall in line with the twice as much theory.

I would like to have seen ACII compete better with Call of Duty, but it's been known for quite some time that the general populace has bad taste in entertainment (see: American Idol). |

Still, 2 million on the PS3 is pretty excellent sales.
I really did not expect the 360 to outsell the PS3. Edit: Telefrog beat me to it.

No one did really especially after all that lame percentage talk by MS after black Friday. Guess Sony's Slim bump may be hitting it's peak and MS is right to just sit back and do nothing this holiday.

Dear Internet,
|
Armchair Analysis:
Regardless of what the HD fanboys say, the Wii's so-called slowdown isn't keeping it from taking top spot. Thanks, NSMB Wii! Modern Warfare 2 : You can add atleast half a million to 800K reported sales of the PC version to that figure, and HOLY SHIT THATS A LOT OF MONEY! Dragon Age: A new IP amidst a flood of high profile sequels from EA, yet it did not suffer the same fate as Mirror's Edge and Dead Space. Go Bioware! Honourable mention: PS2 with 200K units. If that's not persistence, then I don't know what is.

And just think what the number would be, had the PS3 still had BC.

Now your theory gets thrown out the window with Assassin's Creed II where Sony paid for marketing with that title and it still sold twice the numbers on 360. Look at this Assassin's Creed II commercial with a PS3 logo at the beginning and ending with the "It does everything" at the end. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4unWelrEYNo |

Uncharted 2's drop off is kind of surprising. Under 300k in the second month for a title that's still getting heavy promotion.

Wrong word.
It might break a million before the end of the year. Not bad for an exclusive on the system. |

Am I right in thinking that the NPD doesn't take Wal-mart into account? If that is still the case, I think these numbers are pretty much worthless as a gauge for sales in November, considering that Wal-mart had some of the best Black Friday deals. Hell, I saw about a hundred DS Lites get sold right in front of me.
EDIT: Yeah, I just looked it up, they don't include Wal-mart.

Natural 20's!

They do estimate the Wal-Mart sales based on trend data from other sources. The only numbers not reflected in their data either by first-hand or estimation is digital sales either from Steam-likes or online retail sales like Amazon.
