Hey, are we talking about guns?!

You people should learn to be tolerant of others. Harmony within humanity a beautiful and multicolored, like the light from a prism. A rainbow, if you will. Taste the rainbow, dammit!

I've actually been pleasantly surprised that thread hasn't popped up. I suspect it would quickly just be rabble about rabble, in short. Which I despise.

I also despise being fat. Screw you skinny people and your ability to shop for clothes in nice stores, and wear swimsuits without feeling like a circus freak.

Yes, I'm about to go on a beach trip.

I solve that problem by operating under a healthy state of selective denial.

Avant-garde art.

I just spent an hour listening to a guy play bird calls and occasionally strike a xylophone, all while a projector showed a film of a guy in a monkey suit pushing a shopping trolley full of bananas. I wanted to stand up and scream, "Today, I changed the course of a man's life, used my health insurance, and ate sushi. Examine your life choices."

Yeah, being more willing to honor an MSRP than the competitor with far and away more market share than you is price fixing and non-competitive behavior.

EDIT: And yes, Apple was guilty of the same crap in music Amazon is pulling with books now. Sure, the prices are lower than they were for real media, but how many of you spent years complaining that iTunes was the market juggernaut against whom no other online music retailer could truly compete? How many people have griped that the App Store is the only place to buy apps on iOS, thereby making it inferior to Android? Lower prices does not on its own imply better for the user or the market in the long run--although I'd say that in the App Store case, there are other benefits to only having one store in town.

I am going to be frank here; presenting your argument sarcastically does not substitute facts. Apple and the big 5 didn't just cut a deal, they forced the rest of the market to those conditions. The new bestsellers netted them $13 under the old deal. A $15 book under the new deal nets them $11. Amazon was not undercutting anyone or forcing anyone to commit to a loss. Apple could've sold their *superior* product at a 30% margin without resorting to shady deal. Having loss-leaders is standard practice in growing markets, and it is the only way to get a foothold for new competitors in *any* market

There has always been a argument against locked digital store. It has never been legally challenged yet. Amazon may form monopoly with their large market-share, there is a high probability they will, forcing people to use their own devices. But as far as I know, the DOJ and the FTC do not possess Minority Report-like tech or jurisdiction.

Even then, authors can, and do ask for their work to be DRM free, making them compatible with other devices too.

I just know a lot of Amazon ebooks say "Price set by publisher" on them and cost more than a new paperback edition.

Because it costs more to have a book made of magic.
