WeekDAY gaming(10/12/09)- What are you (still) playing?
Pardon our appearance. It’s time again to blast out the “end” in the week while we monkey glue back the “DAY” into the week. Yep, it’s the weekday again, looking to be attended to. So as the end part of the week goes back into the word draw, now we start all over again. What are your plans for the new week?
My week is looking like the last few. Internship, some classes, more reading than type up more papers with small pockets of time for some gaming. Now if they would only let me play Persona at my internship . I guess there is a benefit to working the graveyard shift. Instead, I’ll look back on the decent gaming over the weekend:Braid- So close…yet so far. Damn nine pieces to go and not being able to get them to finish. Grrr. Guess I’ll let this collect dust in the HDD again. Fable- Why did it take me so long to play this? Oh right, ADDGirl played it and told me the entire plot. Despite that, it’s still a great game to play. I need more time with my xbox. Persona- Made it to the fifth floor of a “dungeon” and then…poof…died. And like chutes and ladders, slid all the way down to the first floor where I last found a save point. Ouch. How was your weekend? What did you play? What will you play to round out your weekday?

I played Demon's Souls, A LOT. Conquered 3 demons or so this weekend and made massive headway in 3 areas. Also I'm playing Bioshock as stress relive for Demon's Souls. I really love the game but second time through really is less special. Ah well, it's 2 years old. Shit moves on. Mass Effect as well. Just started a new male chara (I only played females before). have to refresh this before March 2010. Might as well play it once in a while. This week however UNCHARTED 2 and BRUTAL LEGEND!!!!!

Bruuuuuuuuuuuuutal Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeegand!
I saw the video of the multiplaer aspect and the explaining why they built the game from MP first and I must say it looks damned fun. A mixture of DoTA and a rock concert. I'm also tempted to pick up Castle Crashers to keep me busy until then, but I don't know if anyone will still be on that.

Demon's Souls I played a lot of Demon's Souls, I'm 14 1/2 hours in and I only started the game last Wednesday morning. I'm Soul Level 40 , I just took down the Adjudicator this morning, now I'm trying to decide whether I should proceed to 4-2, go to 1-3, or check out 3-1 or 5-1 for the first time. 2-3 is out right now, no way I can take down the Dragon God just yet.
Holy hell this game is great. The only game that can pull me away for a bit comes out this week: UNCHARTED 2! ![]() Quote:

Beat Motorstorm over the weekend.
Demon's Souls will be the go-to game for the next few weeks I think. I didn't touch a 360 all weekend...besides Netflix streaming a couple times anyway. I wish the PS3 had the streaming as well. |

I spent most of my free time playing, "GO TO BED, YOU BLOODY KIDS!" I don't know why, but while my daughter will go to bed at 7pm at home with nary a problem, going to Grandma's equals staying up until 1am or later. We're soooo tired...
That said, I did manage to play some games. Persona (PSP) - I didn't play a LOT of Persona, but I did make it into the Abandoned Factory. And unlike Purps, I've been fusing personae and rockin' the house, all skilly and shooty... Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (DS) - This ate up most of my weekend. I've made some pretty good progress and am about 12 hours or so into the game but I'm only now in the midst of finding the first of three items that I need to, hopefully, get to the final encounter. Also, this is the first game on the DS to harness the awesome power of Boo-Ray Oh, Nintendo, always making fun of the competition.Fieldrunners (PSP) - I still haven't managed to get past about wave 55 or so on the various maps I've been on, but I did manage to unlock a third map. I'm frightened... And I think that's about it. I probably played a bit of Bookworm Adventures Deluxe while messing around on the laptop but I forget... Oh, and one more thing. POST 5000!!! Anyway, I'm hoping to play a LOT of Demon's Souls tonight and then tomorrow (and the next few days) will be all about Uncharted 2. My poor PS3 doesn't know what to do with all the love... and my 360 keeps sending me messages about how abandoned it feels lately. Poor dear. Brutal Legend will be mine at some point but I'm holding out for the review copy that I'm supposed to be receiving before I run out to grab it. The fact that I keep hearing how Brutal Legend was built around the Multiplayer, coupled with the fact that I'm just not that into Metal... only the snappy writing is making me want to get the thing at this point. It's one of the first that I really just can't see myself justifying a full price point for. Oh, I also basically plowed through the last 300 or so pages of Shadow's Edge and then got started on The Road yesterday. I'm now about half finished The Road. Man, I haven't read this much since the kids came along. It feels nice

Started chipping away at my backlog again. I played Titan Quest for a good 7 hours this weekend. Slowly making my way to the end.
I also played some TF2 w/ Airosh and Suave Peanut. Sadly, no one else decided to join but we still had some fun. Late last night I had a weird bout of insomnia so I decided to work on my gaming PC. It's been under performing lately. I decided to roll back to the version of the drivers that I installed when I built it. I went from 50FPS with the latest drivers to 150FPS in Left 4 Dead which was where I was noticing the biggest hit. TF2 had similar results. I was actually able to pretty much max everything out, turn on v-sync and get a solid 60FPS where as recently, that has not been the case. It wasn't just Steam games either. I'll have to go back and see how Fallout 3 is playing but I'm pretty sure it will be an improvement there as well. Next upgrade, I'm going Nvidia unless they are absolute shit at the time as well.

Well despite me ignoring Sportscenter, Baseball Tonight and local sports talk radio for the next week, what better way to get over it than to indulge into probably the best Action Game ever created?

Played through the tutorials for World In Conflict at 2:30am. Might put some more time into that this week.
Started up League Of Legends but got disconnected halfway through the tutorial. Thanks loads, LordDon! ![]() Need to get back into Fable:TLC. Hosed a save game and lost about 2 hours of play. I hate the way it autosaves as soon as you load up a game: "What? You just destroyed my latest progress! You whore!" Also just sailing around and blasting the Evil Spanish and the Slimy French out of the water in Pirates! This has to be one of my favorite sandbox games! Reaching a level of boredom in D&D Online. It may not survive.

Oh yes, I had a almost throwing controller moment over the weekend because of that lovely save system. I didn't quite understand hero save, especially being only in the tutorial part. I beat the guy's time to the demon door, which I barely did. I saved, thinking that progress would be saved. No. Back to where you were shown the hero upchucking...grrrr. I swore off the game for a few minutes but quickly changed my mind. I read online the save system is better after the tutorial but i'm wary of saving in this game. And that autosave is weird.

Demon's Souls and Uncharted 2 for sure this week. TBH though, Demon's Souls is starting to feel a little stale already. Sure, I love the excitement of dieing after one false move but at some point I want to progress without feeling like one tiny mistake is going to waste the last hour or so I spent getting through a level. I can handle losing souls I just hate having to meticulously go back through the same level especially if it took me a long time to get through the first time.
I didn't have much luck getting Persona for the PSP working on my CFW so I have decided I'm taking it back and getting A Witch's Tale. It looks like it could be a cute game to play in October and I can always play old school Revelations: Persona on my PSP. I've had it ripped and working for some time now. |

I just recently acquired a PSP so I spent a bit of last week and the weekend toying with that. I picked up Chains of Olympus and promptly finished it (short but awesome) and am getting into Vice City Stories which is wonderful.
I've been getting to all of the RPGs that I either never played or never got around to finishing and I'm this close to beating FFX. I honestly love the battle system and really enjoy the ability to not only take my time but see the combat order as well. Much more relaxing than some of the others. Having just beated FF7 for the first time, I now have Crisis Core on tap for when I'm done with X and I'm trying to be patient and not pull it out until I've finished. We'll see how well that goes. I was working on Alone in the Dark as well for the 360 and made it to the tail end of Chapter 7 and just couldn't see it through. The controls mixed with the save system did me in. There's some decent stuff inside if you can chew through the rest of the garbage to find it which is a shame. Speaking of, I also put down the new Prince of Persia. I've been trying to muster any interest in going back to it over the past month and just realized that it was never going to happen. Pretty game but some of the most boring gameplay I've had to sit through which is a shame. Finally, not playing so much, but a buddy loaned me the complete box set of The West Wing the other week and my wife and I just polished off season one. As someone who never managed to catch an episode when it was on the air, I can safely say it's incredible to watch and I'm glad I can do so all the way through.
