Zombie Driver - Different than it Sounds

There seems to be an auspicious coincidence in the world recently. Most everywhere I turn I find more and more zombie love! Today EXOR Studios has announced its contribution to my zombie obsession with its first PC title Zombie Driver.

I found the title of the game to be a little misleading. This game is not about a driver that happens to be a zombie, wandering around society looking to fit in. Nor is it a game about a chauffeur that drives zombies around town to various night clubs and all night brain-food joints. Instead it's the much more entertaining role of you driving a car "through" the zombies that litter the streets.

The story follows traditional zombie beginnings. An unfortunate chemical accident occurs, most people are now zombies, you have to survive, zombi-cide ensues. In a car, you mow down zombies in effort to save the remaining survivors around the city. As the game progresses you can upgrade to different vehicles and mount weapons like mini-guns, rocket launchers, flame throwers, and rails guns; the bare necessities for fighting the zombie apocolypse.

The game will be available through digital distribution November, 2009.

UPDATE 10.5.2009 : After speaking with Wojciech Lekki, CEO of EXOR Studios, he has confirmed that the game is planned to launch between $10-$15 USD on a number of digital distribution systems including "the biggest ones." There will also be a direct download available from the ZombieDriver website.

Wojciech even hinted that the team would love to bring ZombieDriver to XBLA and PSN, but those decisions would be made after the PC release of the game.

The game looks very fun. Like the driving of the original GTA mixed with zombie killing. What can go wrong? I'll definitely be looking for this in November, I love that video.

17 story missions with sub quests? Sounds like Zombie Diver! I was imagining a Zombie would make a good diver since there is no use for SCUBA gear.

Anyway, sounds like it could be fun, if done well.

Yeah, and a little Vigilante 8 mixed in with the mounted guns. I find it hard not to at least try games with flame throwers in them.

I think it's beyond gamers. Zombies are the bom-diggity home skillet.
