Persona 1 PSP

Seriously, there's no thread for this? On *this* site? I thought half of us were SMT and Persona addicts.

Edit: Warning for those of you who (like me) abuse the sleep function - apparently it still counts as time played.

I do not have a PSP yet. :/ It's being sent to me by a friend who's had it "packed up" for about a month now.

Nope, no thread at all.

That being said, I can't participate in the discussion til the CFW catches up with the official firmware, but at least I can look at the shiny new box and listen to the soundtrack.

We need to make a ruling on policy here. Are we supposed to turn the 'game is coming OMG!' threads into the 'we are playing the game' threads, or do we start new ones?

BTW, love the new FMVs, but I admit to being annoyed with the damn coordinate system for running around.

I've been playing it. Never cared for the first person dungeon crawling, but the fast pace and the mini map make up for it.

And to Gorvi: You caught the solution for playing it on custom firmware, right? After that was released, I ripped, hacked and rebuilt my copy, and have been playing off the memory stick since then.

I did, but, well, damn, I'm lazy. I've got other games to play on the system right now, so it's not like I'm being left wanting for something, but if it gets to a point a month or so from now and I still can't play it, I may look at that option. For now, I think I'll just start up Yggdra Union.

Your copy of Persona is sitting there, wondering why you hate fun, Gorvi. WHY DO YOU HATE FUN?!

It has my unplayed copy of Persona 4 to keep it company.

Now that's going to be weird, I planned on starting P4 in November and I may very well be playing P1 at the same time.

Well, when it comes to playing ripped games, I think I'm fucked. My PSP came with FW 6 on it already.

I started playing it a few days ago, but I stopped after returning to the school since I was in the middle of some other games. I enjoyed what I've played so far, though.

I got Kingdom Hearts 358/2 in the mail today and was thinking about playing that first or perhaps finishing up some of the 360 games. Does anyone know how long Persona 1 is roughly? If it's almost as long as P3 or P4, I was thinking about making it my longterm game and just play an hour or two a day while finishing off shorter games. But if it's a lot shorter than other Persona games, I might just focus on it instead.

Note, this is based on my P1 PS1 experience, but:

P1 isn't as long as 3 or 4. It really depends on how much you intend to grind away.

Not to brag, but this is exactly why I have a PSPHat with CFW and a PSP-2000 with OFW.

I just got my copy today, ripped the soundtrack to iTunes. I know what I'm going to be posting about in the weekend gaming thread.

When I played Persona on the PSOne, it took around 30 hours.

Yeah that's approximately half the length of either P3 or P4.

What FW does P1 require? I have my PS1 copy playing on CFW 4.01, and was considering picking this up because, you know, I'm a whore. What is the latest CFW?

Jerk.

I'm actually hoping to do just that soon, I'd really like to get a 3000 later this year.

I think this requires 6.0, the newest CFW is 5.5 with no ETA on a new one out there that I know of.

Thank the maker. Of course, this version of Persona has the Snow Queen quest line, which was excised from the PS1 version. I've only ever dabbled a bit with the PS1 version of Persona 2 (I have the PS1 version of Revelations: Persona, but I don't think I've ever fired it up). It's nice to know that I have something somewhat managable ahead of me instead of looking at something that may hit triple digits, hour-wise.

Actually, if I remember correctly, there are two distinct paths in the game, with the Snow Queen quest splitting off and being a completely different ending. So at the very least I think it's another 20+ hours of content. I think. I could be way off, it wouldn't be the first time.

Yeah...but like I said, Persona can now be played on custom firmware. It's not trivial, but I've done it, and I'm not that technical.

Ah, interesting... If this is the case, I hope they make it quite clear when decision time occurs so I can at the very least skip the early parts of the game.
