I keep reading that it's a pretty good mystery novel. Doesn't seem like a Richard Castle novel though. I saw it in Barnes and Noble the other day and it's the skimpiest thing. It's about half the size of the book they use on the show. I thought Castle wrote those thick best selling mystery novels.

My guess is it's one of the writers who has made a cameo on the show, though it'd be interesting if it was Fillion - I used to read his blog posts and the like from time to time, and they were quite entertaining.

EDIT: Oh, and it turns out there are ten chapters up at ABC's website; I've just finished downloading them now, so I guess I'll see how it progresses myself.

Loved it. One of my favorite episodes of Castle so far. I am going to watch it again and try to catch things I may have missed. Definitely an episode worth watching twice.

I'm not the one that discovered it but the real author of Heat Wave made a cameo on the show last week.

Johnathan Frakes is directing. Yesterday, he called me Number One. My heart made a noise that sounded like awesome.

Being a geek icon couldn't of happened to a better guy. I think that's one reason I love certain actors. They ended up in geeky shit and quiet enjoy it themselves. Reminds me when Hamill referred to himself as "old school comic book."

I wonder if he's referring to how at the end of the episode, Castle's Halloween party is referred to as a shindig. This really was a great episode though. My favorite Castle episode so far! They know their audience.

That was indeed a great friggin' episode - no doubt on of my favorites, too. Good mystery, good dialogue, and good chemistry all the way through.

EDIT: Actually, so is Det. Ryan's as well, though I didn't get it because I'd not seen the role.

I had a feeling there was something about that, so I checked imdb and found the reference. The other detective's was also pretty funny reading about his previous roles, so that was also pretty good.

Apparently the catalyzer was the easter egg, which I didn't even notice and was too busy laughing enjoying the banter about the costume. I guess I need to watch the episode again as there were other things I missed as well. That's what I get for trying to watch it with Torchlight on the brain.

Man, the busting out of the door with the gun was... pretty magical. I take back those things I said about how you can tell it's been 7 years and he kinda just looks like a guy in a Malcolm Reynolds costume now. I was wrong. That guy is totally still Malcolm Reynolds.

I also felt like he actually slipped into the Mal character a little bit when he was interacting with his daughter in the first scene. His voice changed a little, and his mannerisms weren't quite Castle anymore. I don't think he can help it. It's the coat.
