Super Street Fighter IV Announced

Capcom finally made their big Street Fighter IV announcement. Coming this spring to the PS3 and 360 will be Super Street Fighter IV, a revamped version of the fighter - not a downloadable expansion - with new characters, new ultra combos, some balancing tweaks and best of all a lower price point.

Lets begin with the info most of you are waiting for: the new characters. Capcom says there will be about 8 new fighters in the game when it releases - and those eight will be a mix of old and new characters - but they're only announcing two at the moment. T-Hawk, from Super Street Fighter II, is a burly Native American, while Juri is a Korean fighter who uses Tae Kwon Do.

SSFIV will also feature a revamped online system, which may even include a lobby system. Unfortunately these new online features mean we won't have cross-platform play with the original SFIV. But Capcom promises that owners of the original SFIV will get some sort of unspecified bonus in SSFIV.

Super Street Fighter IV will be released this Spring for the PS3 and 360. No word yet on a PC release.

It's actually been done before, with VF4 Evo which had new characters/features at a lower price point.

I'd bet that the bonus is just early access to something which is normally unlocked in the game.

SOLD! Well odds are I would of bought it again but to get to play as Makoto again would be nice. I enjoyed her in SF3: Third Strike although I would enjoy playing as Karin again from the alpha series.

The one feature that would be great to see added would be the ability to have a few folks in one room and have them each watch and take turns. A quarter mode perhaps as it was in another game. Also a bracket style system for folks in your party, say 8-12 people in a lobby and have them all book up in a party only bracket.

I liked SF4 and I've had some great matches as Cammy, now I look forward to expanding my roster of folks.

I actually wrote a letter to Capcom nicely complaining about the difficulty of the game (I sent it as "defective" to customer service because there weren't any other viable options for the subject of my message) and they replied by stating they wanted to help me, but didn't understand what I thought was wrong with the game...
