In Other News...September 24

- Capcom has announced that Frank Black West of Dead Rising fame will be a playable character in the North American release of Tatsunoku vs Capcom for the Wii.

- Microsoft has officially removed the statutory size limit on XBLA games. There is now a 2GB limit, but that is technical, not statutory.

- The PC version of Assassins' Creed II has been delayed to the first quarter of 2010.

- Bioshock - the original, not the sequel - will be released on the Mac this October. For those keeping track, that's 2 years after the PC/360 versions, and 1 year after the PS3 version.

- Square Enix & PopCap announced a new XBLA/PC title called Gyromancer. They describe it as "Final Fantasy meets Bejeweled", and yes it looks a lot like Puzzle Quest.

I was about to ask the same thing...

And you think the size limits will ever matter? Or does this change price structure to differentiate from Games On Demand?

Does this mean we are finally going to get a hard drive larger than 120GB?? Mine is completely full, I have to delete stuff to get the Brutal Legend demo!

It'll matter when a developer wants to make a 2.1 GB game that doesn't have a retail release. XBLA is currently the only way to do that on the 360. Why they can't just make it into an ISO and run it as if it WERE a disc is beyond me, but I'm sure they can reinvent that limit with the power of software.

There's a 250GB on the way, I'm sure it'll be sold by itself eventually. In the meanwhile, delete all of your game installs. After the new system update (not the one this week, but the one before it), game install sizes dropped, in some cases dramatically.

I am very happy to have re-entered the 360 world. ACII interests me but I don't know if I want to play it 4 months after all my friends are bored with it, and I totally forgot about Crackdown II until TGS coverage.

It's a single player game. Wait until all of your friends are bored with it... and then borrow it from one of them and play it through. That's what I did with AC1, when my brother got and beat it. Fun game, I liked it.

I was excited when I originally read the title as Gynomancer, but now not so much.

That would have to be on the DS or Wii wouldn't it?

I wonder why this limit applies to XBLA games, but not to installed from disc games or the Xbox 360 software you can download on the XBL store?
