Confirmed: Xbox 360 to sport 250GB HDD - in Modern Warfare 2 Flavor

According to a press release by Microsoft and Activision, a special edition Xbox 360 console will be released to the public on November 10th. The new Xbox 360 is slated to release at a MSRP of $399, and includes the following in the box:

Xbox 360 Console
250 GB HDD
Xbox 360 Headset
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
Two Wireless Controllers

The console was announced a preview event in Los Angeles, CA.

The console is slated to release in multiple countries, according to the article, it will be released in Europe, the Middle East (UAE, Saudi Arabia), UK, U.S., Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Australia and New Zealand.

That's way more HDD than I need. Still, new adopters would spend that much just getting an Elite with COD4 and another controller, so why not?

At first I balked at the price, but then I did the math. Save 10 bucks compared to if you bought an elite, MW2 regular edition, and a controller separately. Plus its pretty.

how many people getting MW 2 don't have an xbox and will be getting that one... show of hands....

When they put out a new, upgrade console with something similar to Nintendo's R.O.B. and it can play the games for me while I take a nap, then i'll consider getting an upgraded machine.

i am happy with my $158 120gb hdd from walmart and thats all i need.

Smart move if it can trick the less savvy into thinking MW2 is a 360 exclusive. I'm skeptical, but if that does work, it'll be reflected in the sales numbers.

This definitely beats the MGS4 edition gunmetal PS3 which did not ship with MGS4 the game.

I'm intrigued to see how a $399 console does in the new $299 economy... While it IS a good deal, it doesn't look like a deal when your competitor is selling for cheaper. Also, I've never liked the look off special edition consoles. Too busy.

But that's the thing: MS is already selling one at $299. This is a limited edition; if you don't want it already, you won't.

The vanilla 360 has never done anything for me - this version does look nice on page; it remains to be seen whether it looks nice in real life. However, until my 360 dies it ain't getting a replacement - plus I have no intention of buying MW2 anytime soon.

I would like to get a larger hard drive. What would be nice if microsoft would release 250 at the MSRP of the 120 (or close to it) and drop the 120 under $100. Yea I know dream on.

That said, I don't think this console is particularly good looking. The only special edition console I've ever thought was really sexy was the black Dreamcast.
