So...are any of us going to band together or what? I'd really like to get a post apocalyptic gang kicking.

Seriously, I'll jump on right now...we could discuss what we wanted to accomplish and maybe all start at the beginning (Skipping the extended tutorial, anyway).

Anyone in?

I'm in. Invite away, name is Hell Goat. I just got my Improved books on the first three parts of ATV/Motorcycles and am lvl 14. Taking it a little slow (still doing Oilville quests) so a buddy of mine and I can get through S1 together.

For those of you not doing much crafting, at least get the levels as close to your maximum as you can. You can rake in a nice amount of XP that way. Making the three "Improved" books (Control Systems, Frames and Engines) may have taken two days in mere "creation" time, but I gained a level and a half doing it. Not to mention, I'll be able to jump right on a higher level of vehicle by the time I make one.

I just can't believe there's that little interest. I'll try to put in some hours and catch up.

If you're going crafting, start marking your map for mats. It's a HUGE help when you need a stack of Scrap Fasteners or Salvaged Wood.

I might have to give this game a try after I finish Fallout 3. It just looks so cool!

Question: So I bought the game weeks ago, but since then, haven't put much time into it. I think my guy is about level 5 or so. My question is, is crafting required? I've put some time into it, but ultimately, as it typically is, crafting is not my thing. I hate spending time on it, gathering ingredients, recipes, putting them together, etc. It's not my bag. I get the feeling that part of the reason I haven't played (aside from being very, very addicted to WoW. Fuck you, WoW) is because of the crafting aspect and my feeling that it's absolutely necessary to progress. Is this the case?

It definitely makes things easier, but anything that is craftable can be bought on the auction house, so as long as you spend the time you don't spend crafting on making money instead, I think you'll be fine.
I haven't played in a while, but last time I did, the auction house prices were all dirt cheap anyway.

I'm trying the trial now, and gotta say....I'm really enjoying it. A lot. So much so I'm kicking myself for not buying it during Steam's sale for half price

Ok, gotten past the basic and advanced tutorials and gotta say....Loving this game a lot.

It's not perfect by any means (What MMO truly is?) but wow is it impressively fun. I like the crafting system, and plan on buying the game though the site to get myself a free ATV. I'm liking it so damn much I'm thinking about quitting WoW for it.

I'm still there! I just hit 17 and have started on a LOT of 2nd tier crafting books. I'm taking it REALLY slow going through the zone. I still have quests in the Kingman area...
