I'm with you; it runs not very well (which is to say, it runs okay on my system, but it ought to run better) for not looking terribly fantastic and having an incredibly boring landscape. The gameplay is reasonably entertaining and I have my character at level 2 and I'm trying to collect ingredients to craft things. But, I don't fully understand the crafting or how I come about the items needed to make something.

The gameplay is also REALLY awkward. Running around, shooting things, etc all feels really, really clunky.

I love the concept of the game, but it doesn't feel like I'd pay $40 initially for and then $15/mo thereafter. Maybe $10 initially and $5/mo after. I can see this game blossoming into something really awesome after about a year or so, but right now, I think I'll finish out my trial and then call it quits. I may play the trial a bit more, as I do find the game intriguing, but...eh...

I like it...I went ahead with it, as I feel like they're going to be doing anything interesting things.

But, I think most importantly...is the a CoG clan yet? Can I join? Where is everyone? I see this game being pretty cool with a group, especially with the new Construction skillset.

I jumped in a few weeks ago with a buddy key About lvl 12 now, concentrating on crafting, rifles, pistols, armor, dodge and group tactics. I wish I could respec, but ah well. Seems to be plenty of AP to go around. It seems like they offer enough lower level abilities to keep your character viable even if you attempted to "break" them.

Fallen Earth is 50% off at Impulse for anyone thinking about it; or if you have some friends waiting for a reason to grab it. $25

That is actually tempting...I've been playing my trial account and have become more and more interested in the game. But I'm just not certain. Here's a question though: If I bought it through impulse, could I tie it to my trial account?

Well, I don't know for certain, but if it's like every other MMO, then yes. You're just buying the game, your account is your actual login/subscription with the devs or publishers - whomever is running them. Two different parts that you need.

Well, after trying to upgrade my account via the launcher, it automatically wants me to buy without inputting any sort of key. Which seems to say that you can only buy it via the FE site if you're a trial user and still keep your account.

But oh well, I'm only on the verge of level 3 anyway and $25 is the right price, despite what I said before.

I went ahead and bought it, even though I feel tremendously guilty about it. I really shouldn't have spent $25 on it and I'm a bit afraid I wont play it for much more than a week, but something keeps drawing me to click that Fallen Earth icon when I'm pondering on what game to play.

So here's hoping it really draws me in and I find it to be something interesting to put some time into.

And if not, it's a MMO, it'll be a different game in a year's time so you can try again.

The only reason to not go back and see how a MMO is doing is if you hate the dev for being traitorous scam artists with no sense of design. Everything I've seen from these guys pretty much says they're huge nerds who want to make something cool.

If you buy the game via impulse (or any other site or place) you can just add your key to your account (under subscriptions) to make your trial account a full-version account.

Ive benn playing since steam had it's 50% off sale a while back. Now about level 25 my skills/stats are a little fubar so I wish there was some kind of respec. It's hard starting out decinding which way to go with things. IF people are having trouble with graphics/performance, I found this which seemed to help:

http://www.globaltechatlas.info/2009...-graphics.html

In general, the devs seem to be pretty involved and release fixes every few days. I think most people are into FE because it's probably the closest we'll get to a fallout mmo for quite a while.

Heh, I would just leave the trial account to die if you're only on lvl 3. It might be as easy to just level twice than bother merging the keys and such :P

The problem is, Impulse hasn't sent me a key that I can see. Just a key for the promo items, but not the game itself.

This is what I'm imagining I'll have to do, which isn't too much of a problem, I just like the character I created

With other games you can right-click the game in the "My Games" list, and choose "View Registration" which will then give you the key for the game.

Also, great news for you guys who have been having problems with downloading the game

I should not have read through this thread. Now I really want to play this, but the last thing I need is an MMO addiction.

D&D Online, Eve, LotRO, and this game all pique my interest, but I've done my best to avoid them.

I am giving it a shot, I made my character named Shibbin, I am lv 3 and I am leaning my points slightly more toward crafting and stats. I am following the tech build, but I prefer rifles a bit, instead of pistols, but neither one is very high.

The crafting system for some reason is more enjoyable to me than WoW, maybe it's because I can make useful gear. The combat isn't the most exciting, but it can be kind of tough. It's a bit of a throwback to the pre-Wow MMOs in that not everything is easy hand-holding. But it also feels modern in other ways.

Blarg, I give up on the game. The respawn rates on mobs are just too brutal.

I was doing a short dungeon, no other players around, and I couldn't progress as monsters would respawn about as fast as my health could recharge, then more monsters aggro on me, then I barely survive, heal up, but then I get attacked by BOTH groups as my health isn't done charging.

Well, the game also has other little things, but the respawn rate is the issue that sucks my fun out the most, I'd also like to have floating health bars/levels over people so I could either assist fellow players easier or know which monsters are bigger trouble.

Ah well, I haven't paid for the game yet, and it has me interested, it's just not.. there yet for me.

I finished crafting my motorcycle last week, and boy was it worth it. FE is a game where I don't really care what level I am, I am simply enjoying the ride so to speak. The crafting system is something I really am enjoying, which is odd because in any other game I try to stay away from crafting as much as possible. Building a bike frame, tires, engine, electronics, etc... really made me appreciate my new motorcycle when it was finished. The game is definitely not for everyone, but give it a go and see. And btw, thanks to whoever mentioned LotRO, I hadn't played it since Dec 08, now I am re-installing as we speak.

Edit, reguarding Framerates. when I upgraded to my Quad core and ATI 5850 I noticed a very nice leap in smoothness. Playing at 1680, I am 50-100fps near always. Now if you enter a crowded town like Embry Crossroads or Oilville, expect to dip low even on a heafty machine. In Oilville I dip down to 20-30fps regularly during busy hours.
