WTB 939 Dual Core Chip...

The title says it all. An Opteron 175 or 185 would be my first choice. Just looking to see if anyone has one lying around. I don't need recommendations for a different CPU/Mobo spec. Just looking for a Opteron or X2 in the 939 flavor.

Good luck! They tend to be pricey for what you get. I don't have any spare X2s, just a 3500+.

If someone doesn't have one available, I believe eBay will be your best option. I checked my usual suspects and outside of slower X2 models, they are sold out.

Slower X2s overclock excellently. A simple bump from a 333 to 400MHz FSB will take an AthlonX2 3800 to 4400. (2.0GHz to 2.4GHz) It's one of the easiest, lowest-cost overclocks you can do.

Yeah. The Opterons do pretty well too. I came across a SLI board (for free) and figured I'd see if someone by chance had one lying around to replace an older P4 system. Thanks anyway guys.

A lot of people get old hardware that sport S939 or have old single-core S939s and think they can get a cheap or free upgrade to dual core. Reality is, so many other people are trying to do the same thing or holding on to their S939s that demand remains high for the dual core variants.

Yeah I know once the AM2 variants dropped the 939 took a huge jump in price too. So I'm probably screwed. I figured I'd give it a shot. Anyone looking for a used 939 Asus A8N-Deluxe? I'm pretty sure it works.

I've got an old single-core 3000+ I don't have any use for if you give up searching for a dual-core, heh. Still gets a nice 2.6GHz on just air cooling.

Nah, I can find single cores pretty easily. I think I might even have one lying around. I don't think the upgrade would really be worth it.

Thanks anyway.

I have a 165. But had it overclocked to 2.6 Ghz so I'm not sure you would want it.

That wouldn't bother me in the slightest. Shit I would stick it right back up there. Did you have that running on air? What cooler did you have? How much?

I can't think of any other questions to hit you with machine gun style so I will leave it as that for right now.

Not sure how much the chip is even worth (Its about two years old!)
It uses an ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro air cooler. Run incredibly cool at stock speeds, much hotter when overclocked

Looks like they're going for between $60 and $70 on fleabay. I'd be willing to go right around there but not much higher as this is just going to be another gaming rig in my basement and my old rig will probably go to Mr. Gnome. I know there isn't a ton of incentive there, but let me know what you think.

Ends soon around $30?

I'm probably going to make an HTPC out of it. All I need really need is a hard drive. The GPU its paired with is a 7900GT with a passive cooler.

I have an Athlon X2 4200+ I'm not using. HOWEVER, the computer it's in, died. The thing wont even POST. It's not the PSU and it's not the RAM, so it's either the motherboard or the processor and I'm pretty sure it's probably the motherboard. But, if you'd like for say, $50 + shipping, I'll send you the motherboard, processor and RAM. It's all just languishing in a corner and has been for a few months now. Like I said, I can't promise it will all work, but I'm pretty sure it's only the motherboard that is shot.

I can pay you this Friday. That sounds fantastic. If nothing else I will find something to use out of it.

Alright. Well, my Paypal is GTO66Muscle@hotmail.com.
I'll need to find a box and hopefully a static bag I can ship it all in.

I've got an Athlon FX-60 available. If you are still looking for one.

Do I dare ask how much you want for it?

Make me a reasonable offer. I'm flexible.
