Hot, hot, hot in Seattle
Mind you, this is Seattle we're talking about. Constant rain, grey skies, we lose our sunglasses because we can't remember the last time we used them. It's been getting quite hot recently.
![]() Great! Their graphic wasn't designed to handle numbers above 99. I know it gets a lot hotter in many other places but we're just not equipped to handle this type of weather. Very few homes have air-conditioning, and most of the commercial air-conditioning (Businesses, offices, etc.) isn't rated to handle these temperatures and can't handle the load or shuts down above 90 or so. We'll see what it's like for PAX! August is when it REALLY gets hot around here!

Ha, Seattle with those temps? Very nice! I agree, it's perfect for a sunset walk into the starry night.

It's not the heat, it's the humidity!

Oh buck up. You're the one who did so many road trips out there. You must have acquired some kind of grits.

In other news only 4 days out of July in Kansas have reached 90! 2 were in the 70's, and the rest have been in the 80's. Lot's of rain and thunderstorms too... It seems mother nature has pulled a fast one and swapped out the coastal weather for the plains states weather. I guess she watched too much Jackass, and decided to get in on some pranks.

I'll see your Seattle and raise you a Portland. I'm feeling really sorry for my neighbor -- he's a motorcycle patrolman with the sheriff's department and has apparently been pretty uncomfortable on the job for the last couple of days. Says he doesn't stop if he can help it -- i.e., no sitting and waiting for speeders for the next few days.
Maybe I'll come Seattle for the day. Sounds like it'll be nice. Plus we're starting to get power brown-outs from all the folks plugging in their new window AC units. |

I really don't mind that much. My only difficulty is trying to get to sleep.
Our building management just sent out an apology for the A/C inefficiency. Quote:

Wow. I can't even imagine that hot. I'm kind of a pussy about the heat -- It got to 85-90 this weekend and I could barely stand it -- so >100 is simply beyond my comprehension. Of course, by the same token, I can still wear shorts comfortably down to about 50-55, so it all evens out.

The A/C can't handle 100 degree temps? What was it made in 1940?

It's been hellishly hot here in BC as well, and all kinds of records are being broken every day this week.
BC's hot spot was Lillooet which cracked 40.2c (104.36 farenheit). Luckily (?) my area is only around 35-ish... but when you add in the humidity... bah! |

It's already 95 here, and it's not even noon yet. It might get up to 107 they say...
I don't think it really ever needs to get above 85 outside, and that's what it is in my apartment right now. At least I'll probably be going up into the mountains tomorrow. |

It's not rated for 100 degrees. You've got to pay extra for that and when it only gets that hot once every 5-10 years, it's just not cost-efficient.

I just walked to the grocery and back. It was so hot I had to shave off my moustache when I got back. Course the beard is still there and now I look like Abraham Lincoln. Sweaty moustache drives me crazy.

Fuck y'all. It's been at least 100 everyday for the last 2 1/2 months in South Texas. The hottest it's gotten is 110.
