Konami Making "Metalocalypse" Downloadable Game

Suddenly Brutal Legend has some competition for the most metal game, ever.

Brendan Small, creator of the Adult Swim show Metalocalypse has confirmed that a game based on the property is on the way, with Konami publishing. The game will be a downloadable title for the PSN and XBLA.

In the game you won't actually control any of the five members of the band Dethklok, instead you'll be part of a band of their roadies fighting for the group's honor. Why not let you play as a member of the band? Creator Small explains:

But despite its heavy metal façade, Dethklok was not easy to import into a videogame setting. “The first idea was we make the band merciless and murderous but that doesn’t work on the show,” says Small. “Our show is really about five narcissistic super-celebrities who can’t open the door by themselves.”

More details of the game will be revealed at the San Diego Comic Con later this week.

I like the idea of being one of the many masked guards of Dethklok. Pretty creative way to go about making a Metalocalypse game.

I would love to see a game modelled after Lemmings... You're trying to send the minions to various objectives while Dethklok plays their show. Naturally, they die in unimaginably horrible ways, and if you can't get enough of them to their posts alive, the show shuts down.

Brutal.
