Sacred 2 Camera Tweek.

Perusing the official forums, I came across this, http://forum.sacredeng.ascaron-net.c...t=49772&page=3.

For those who want to give this a try without reading that entire thread, do this:

in $drive:\Documents and Settings\$user\Local Settings\Application Data\Ascaron Entertainment\Sacred 2 you will find a file called options.txt. LEAVE IT ALONE. In the same directory, create optionsCustom.txt

Edit the new file to contain this:

camera = {
cam1_trackdist_max = 2000,
cam1_trackdist_min = 100,
cam1_rotx_min = -0.05,
cam2_trackdist_max = 2000,
cam2_trackdist_min = 100,
cam2_rotx_min = -0.05,
cam_autorot_speed = 4.0,
cam_autozoom_max = 2000,
cam_autozoom_min = 100,
cam_autozoom_speed = 8,
heromenu_trackdist_max = 1200,
heromenu_trackdist_min = 100
}

Fire up Sacred 2, load your character, and then start zooming out and be amazed at how far out you can zoom out now while playing.

Example image, max zoom:

Sure eases the pain of being forced to look at the Ancient Bark graphic, doesn't it?

I don't even notice that stuff anymore unless I'm trying to figure out how cool a new piece of gear looks. I finally finished a dryad set, but it isn't the right one for my build.

No, but I'll do some more research.

Bap, you could just turn off all of the lighting while playing the game. Not an optimal solution, but if it works you can at least enjoy the game.

Here's how.

Nevermind, looks like they added that functionality to cc with the "go dark" option, already.

I checked the options file, nothing for lightfx and a dev posted on the forum that there is no way for the player to turn it off on the sacred 2 side, at this point in time.

Worst case scenario wait and see if the patch which releases with the expansion pack adds it to options.

UPDATE:Bad news. The ring tweak doesn't change how autocollect works, just the ring's appearance. I should have tested more before posting that one.

Ring Tweak? Where did you post this?

I'm having loads of sun with my Shadow Warrior.

Although, I must say, the tongue-in-cheak humor and dialogue grates after a while. I wish there was a 'take this shit seriously' option.

Hahah, yeah I know. I like it otherwise but when something takes control of it without me telling it to, it's a bit annoying.

I'll try the go dark option.

I deleted it since it didn't really do anything besides making the ring look bigger. In 2.40 you can turn off the cheesy combat dialogue.

I'll definitely try the camera tweak out. The lack of zoom distance was really annoying outdoors, especially when going uphill. Thanks a lot for sharing, Random.
Now if they can just fix the camera always getting obstructed when in caves or towns, I'll be completely happy with it.

Patch 2.43 is out. The list of fixes isn't that long but word around the forums is that there are more fixes than are listed in the notes. Hmm, I just noticed they mention that right in the patchnotes as well, heh.
The Patch 2.43 for the PC version will be available today after an extended lobby downtime. All the lobbies should be online again around 15:00 (CET) The Steam version may come a bit later.

New Features:

* It is now possible to disable the camera shaking via an entry in the optionscustom.txt. The entry is: camera.cameraShake = 0

Bugfixes:

* The heroes do not point out insufficient armor against the wrong damage types anymore.
* Reflection damage from NPCs has been reduced.
* The Sakkara demon on the "Start Island" no longer attacks the player unless he has been attacked first.
* Gold and XP amounts will now be displayed using periods as the thousands separator. (For example 123.456.789.000)
* When fight music is disabled, the region music will continue to play during combat.
* The bonus "Chance to dismount opponent" has been removed.
* Blowpipes are now able to hit mounted creatures.
* Achievements will only be shown ingame and commented by the hero the first they are accomplished.
* The achievement "Group Hug" is now possible to accomplish.
* Other heroes in multiplayer game sessions are now less chatty.

The patchnotes are not showing all the changes. One of the undocumented changes is the savegames compatibility preparation for the addon.
