I'm having a hard time supporting either side of this argument. On the one hand, I understand why people would be angry that the Alpha (which is important to note, considering they anticipation of a beta to release) they essentially paid for in their minds wont be given to them completed for free along with the game they purchased. The expectation is for the DayZ to improve to the point that it becomes something far more than what it currently is. That's understandable, considering the Alpha tag slapped on it.
In my mind, if you bought the game, you paid for what you should've been expecting. There were thousands of Lets Play videos on Youtube, hundreds of detailed descriptions of experiences had on the net, you should've known what you were throwing your cash at by now. At the very best, you could hope for a more refined experience of the current DayZ product. A little less glitchy, perhaps some better animations and a closing of the various hacker loop holes. That would be considered a release candidate for a MOD. Hell, that might be over doing it for average mods. If you bought ArmaII for DayZ and expected to get what will eventually be an ArmaIII standalone from pro developers, you might've expected too much. Your 15$ doesn't guarantee any of that and I don't know why people think it would. The game is obviously more than anyone thought it could be a few months back when it popped into the public consciousness. The interest is beyond any possible expectations. Is it really hard to believe that with the ridiculous success it's brought to a struggling product, they'd decide to make it into a full release (on new software) and ask a fair price for it? That was probably rambling, but i've been drinking. Also, most people will have paid around 30-40$ total for BOTH games if Rocket's statements hold true. Seriously, why is anyone complaining? |

Yeah it's not like Arma II was a successful franchise with multiple expansions that created enough commercial success for them to make an engine as beautiful as the one in arma 3. Next person that says no one bought arma to play arma gets bitch slapped. I bought Arma to play arma

I'm interested in the standalone, too. It's almost hard to imagine DayZ without gamebreaking glitches. Last edited by Vigil80; 08-20-2012 at 10:55 AM. |

Oy. I like the mod but the mod maker...is proving to be a complete fucking horses ass. He is more and more like David Cage every day. This is getting fucking tiring. I wish these guys could just program and keep that fresh mentality instead of thinking that everything they say is important. Between him and Cage and the dude who made Braid, they have Ego's enough to put Activisions CEO to shame jezuz.

I think rocket was a pretty big ass from day one, but we were so enamored of the product we either bought into his attitude or just ignored it. He speaks like an internet troll, which is pretty surprising given his background- he was an NZ military officer and went to law school, IIRC.
If I were BIS, I would keep that guy on a short leash.
