Fantasy Flight Star Wars RPG
So, the rumoured FF Star Wars RPG is now a thing. It revolves around Outer Fringe types during the classic trilogy period. They've announced two more games that cover the Rebels and Force users during the same period.
Three games and they've not even touched the Empire, let alone the prequels or any of Expanded Universe stuff. Is it just me, or does this sound like the biggest attempt to milk a licence of all time? The multiple game approach worked with the 40K RPGs because that setting is so incredibly fragmented, but it seems like a totally unnecessary money grab on FF's part. |

For me its ok. Star Wars is a massive universe with unlimited stories to tell. If they are hyperdetailed books about those specific areas its a kudo to them. I frequently get tired of books that try to cover too much anyway.

I've pretty much lost all interest in FFG's games.
Deathwatch was a poorly edited mess, and using the WFRP3 system for Star Wars is the stupidest fucking idea I've ever heard.

I just got back from Gencon and was demoing one of the games at FFG's booth and the dude who was showing us the game seemed kinda tired. Crazy nice guy but you could tell he was worn out and my buddy asked how he was doing. I guess he was one of the lead designers of the RPG and had been working on it non-stop and was so happy it was finally out for people and once we asked a little on it he wouldn't stop talking. Seemed genuinely enthused about the system and what they were doing, so much so I was temped to go over and play one of their pick-up games.
I'm not an RPG person really but I was pretty close to giving it a shot.

Well, why not? If they all play very differently with their own stories to tell, I don't see the harm. I haven't been involved in a big RPG before, but I've seen dozens of books for single games so this doesn't seem too out there. You can always try to be involved in the beta.
