Started a new YouTube channel

Hey all. I decided that I enjoyed watching Let's Play videos enough that I thought it would be fun to try making my own. I started a new series I'm calling "Hardcore Failures". If this kind of thing interests you,
please take a look and tell me what you think.
Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks. This first one is a bit long, too, since I recorded extra with the idea being that I could edit out parts. But, I really didn't see good things to cut, so bam, it is a full hour.

I like the intro. That's some quality editing right there.

Thanks! I'm actually pretty proud of it and it took way too much time to do. Especially since I had to learn both OBS and Hitfilm to do it, and then searching all over for the music.

Subscribed. You seem pretty comfortable doing the running commentary. I was also glad to find that I had been internally pronouncing your name correctly all this time. The intro was definitely slick. The only thing that kind of bothered me is the texture pack you are using (I've never seen one that I liked) but that is a very minor aesthetic nitpick.

Did you enjoy doing it?

Thanks. Lol about the name pronunciation. Glad you like the intro, too.

Yes, I really enjoyed the whole process. Which is important, I think, since my expectations are that I'm not going to be able to retire to do this full time, so it better be an enjoyable hobby.

The running commentary is tricky, because it is really the complete opposite from how I normally use it while gaming. Normally, I'm reserving it for sharing info or coordinating with teammates (or being ridiculous together). With this, I went into it with the mindset that if I wasn't saying something that I wasn't doing it right. It helped, but it still is weird to constantly be talking while playing. Fun, though.

Yeah, texturepacks are definitely a preference that differs between people. I chose it because I personally like it and also thought it would help make a small distinction between my videos and other MC Let's Plays. As long as you are saying it doesn't take too much away from the video, I think I'll probably keep using it for now.

I subbed as well, and also thought the intro was super impressive.

One bit of advice: don't do what I did. I started out as a hobbyist YouTuber, then I started getting subs pretty quick. So I spammed videos out. Was making videos on the daily. It killed my ambition to record. I got burned out fast and when my dad died... well so did my channel.

Have fun with it, don't treat it like a job or an attempt to get famous or rich. Or you will die inside. So with that said, I hope you enjoy making videos.

Edit: also, I subbed as well. The intro hooked me in.

Thanks! I'm glad everyone is into the intro since I really liked it and enjoyed making it, but wasn't sure if anyone else would appreciate it.

Thanks for the tip, I definitely appreciate it. If you have any other tips, I'd love to read them.

I'm thinking that my goal will be to record once a week, but to craft two-three videos from that, since the time flies by while playing and I was almost disappointed when the time I'd allotted was up. Now that I have the intro done, the video processing is the long part, so it is mostly all play and waiting that I'll be doing.

Now, complete disclosure, I'd not shy away from fame and riches, but I know that there are tons of people trying to do that and that it is really only achievable with luck, so I'm not counting on it. Which is why I'm making this about the enjoyment of making something that other people can enjoy.

Sorry about your dad, as well as your channel. It's not too late to get back into it, you know, if it is something that you enjoy. Maybe pick a more relaxed schedule? For what little it is worth, I'd add your channel as one that I'm following if you'd like.

@Ink: Thanks!

What I'm saying is, don't make fame and money the goal. If you do people will be able to tell you're fake and won't sub/watch.

You're starting out right, you're doing it for the fun of it. People like that and will enjoy your videos more because of that. Hell that's what got PewDiePie where he is.

He really should have named his channel "Best Trier."

Hah, that would have been a good second choice.

@Ink: Thanks!
It's been almost two years, so it's as bad these days, but thanks anyways.

Anyways, yeah I would like to get back into the video making game. But am completely bereft of ideas. I mean, there are so many other people doing the same thing it's hard to think of something fun and different.

One idea I had was something like Gamer School. The idea being I sit down with my daughter and teach her how to play through a great game. Maybe start was SMB. I dunno, outside of that I'm drawing a blank.
