I thought you meant a description of Fire Emblem.

And... yeah, we're just on different planes here, I think. Kind of like if I described a game to you as basically a NES TMNT/Shaun White/No Man's Sky inventory management/Assassin's Creed controls crossover episodic Gamestop/Uplay exclusive Sweet Home Alabama sim with online only co-op and a glossy finish.

You liked Xcom right? I would be very surprised if you didn't like these. They are strategy RPGs with permanent death, not perfectly comparable but close.

Haha! You have got an amazing memory of all of the things I hate! Right down to the glossy finish.

I know you would not enjoy TMS, it just ticks so many boxes for me.

I mean, I checked out a gameplay video, and I can see how a lot of similar game mechanics are there, but over all I just... I can't get interested.

Thankfully the training wheels are slowly coming off and I'm able to start working on the social links a bit more. I've never been a huge fan of the demon negotiation part of the SMT/Persona games (if there's a method to the madness for it, I haven't been able to figure it out) but what can you do?
Likely what I'll end up doing. Like many others I plan to sink as much time into Persona 5 as I can. I've just made it past the on-rails tutorial part, and have my after school time completely open. It's a bit overwhelming, but I'm looking forward to it. My first Persona game, and I'm thoroughly enjoying my time.

There is a tutorial hidden away that gives you hints on how to negotiate with the shadows. Kotaku has an article on it, but you basically need to look at their personality and answer questions accordingly.

Upbeat likes joking, dislikes serious and vague.
Timid like kind, dislike joking and vague.
Irritable like serious, dislike kind and vague.
Gloomy like vague, dislike serious and joking.

I've been able to steal one persona so far using this technique, but the answers aren't always clear to me. Like multiple answers seem serious, so it's tough to tell which one I should select.

No accounting for taste.

They are kinda hard to come by, and I do not know what Nintendo consoles you have besides Wii. I have never seen that one for a reasonable price so I haven't played it, but if you ever get curious maybe check out one of the GBA ones on emu.

What key words did you use? "Young Al Capone hates"?

I just searched your posts for the word "hate".

Incidentally, if you weren't aware, you often point out that things "are dumb and you hate them".

Well, I'm glad that I was happy to buy the Monthly Humble Bundle on the strength of The Witness alone. I mean, there might be something interesting there, but nothing jumps out as exciting for me.

Oh yeah, those were Japan only releases so you would actually need to play them on emu for the fan translation.

I was just looking at Layers of Fear, so I am excited about that one. Also Black Mesa and Kingdoms look sweet. Haven't heard much about the others though.

The bundles are not all winners though, as it goes with monthly blind box things. Inside Next month though, already happy to see that.

I've been tempted by Kingdoms for a bit so that's lovely to see. Also interested in Layers Of Fear & Event 0. Is there anyone out there who wants The Witness or should I just absorb the $5 credit?

Yeah, I'll check those out sometime, and maybe I'll be happily surprised. I would be excited about Black Mesa if I hadn't already played it. Of course, I played it when it was a free mod and didn't have the official Steam version. Maybe they'll finish Xen someday and I'll be able to access it because of this.

Ooooh, I have been wanting Inside. But I also already cancelled my subscription. $12 for it doesn't seem like as much of a steal. I could buy it for $12 right now with a coupon I have.

$12 for just Inside isn't much of a steal. Over time the monthly bundle has really paid off for me, with tons of great games I wanted anyway and some that I never would have checked out otherwise.

That said I understand not wanting to subscribe just to potentially get a bunch of games you are not interested in or may not play, just hasn't really been my experience.

My copy of Persona 5 came yesterday. Work has been brutal. My melted cheese brain was in no shape to start P5. I think I just sat in front of the television. Stared at it with me never turning the television on. I may have fell asleep with my eyes open. Today though, I am feeling refreshed and ready for my weekend to start.

You mean, what if I hadn't bought it for myself earlier and was now asking for it? That would be pretty harsh. But telling me that's what you would have done now actually eases my pain quite a bit!
