WeekEND gaming (3.31.17)- What are YOU playing?

Pushing the WeekEND out into the world...

What are YOU playing?

Final Fantasy XV - Level 43, in chapter 5 & cruising along. Need to find some more side quests, I've done about all the hunts I can do.

Wow... the fanfare on this thread is off the charts.

I'll be watching a lot of wrestling this weekend (It's Mania time!) but when I'm not watching sweaty dudes in tights, I'll be playing more Andromeda and Ace Attorney. Finally on the third case in Spirit Of Justice. Yay!

More Andromeda. When not gaming, I'll probably get back into the show Into The Badlands since the second season started a few weeks back.

Haven't figured out what I'm really going to play next. With Shovel Knight done but more coming on the 5th, something sort of in between would be good.

Xenoblade Chronicles and various other games. Alongside the old games I have been playing I am working my way through some of the short games I have in my library. I am thinking I am going to try to make my way through Abzu and Jotun this weekend, maybe see another one of the endings in Neverending Nightmares.

I haven't played much of anything this week. I did read Carrie, and started 'Salem's Lot. Carrie was great. I'm not far in 'Salem's Lot, but it's good so far. Oh, and we watched Batman v Superman last night. That movie is a pile of hot garbage. Wonder Woman is the only thing that's good in it and she has maybe 5 minutes of screentime with nothing to do. The rest of it is pure nonsense.

Zelda just isn't doing it for me right now. I'm not sure what it is. I've been thinking about getting some other games for the Switch. Right now there's 3 games on the eShop I want (Setsuna, Fast RMX, Shovel Knight) but I'm trying to hold myself off because April's got Mario Kart and that will be super dope on Switch.

So, if I play anything this weekend, it'll probably be some Overwatch. I might try to push myself into playing more Zelda, but if that doesn't work, I'll grab something off the backlog. Either Final Fantasy 15 or The BioShock Collection.

I Am Setsuna is a great throwback to the SNES style jRPG's from Squaresoft. Plays very similar to Chrono Trigger.

Very easy game though.

Into The Badlands is so good. I watched the season premiere with my daughter which was interesting because I had to try to explain everything and everyone to her.

It looks great.

I'm just thinking $40 is a bit steep for me. I'm holding off to see if it has a sale or something.

I am curious how some summons will look with these graphics.

Tay's birthday is tomorrow so we'll see how much she wants me around. It could really go either way, all weekend or not much at all. She did not commit to birthday dinner plans so that might be a sign that she has plans to go out with friends.

With Hai (and possibly Tay) out of the way I will try to catch up on The Expanse. I have yet to watch an epoisode this season. When I am not watching that I have decided to take out the remaning three Divine Beast. I'm still not a fan of the combat mechanics but it is time to move forward..

I decided to go back to the start of Season 1 so I could get back into things because I had a hard time remembering where it left off.

Oh yeah, definitely don't pay $40 for it. I'd say $20 range would be worth it.

I have family visiting and still haven't done my Taxes. Probably won't have much time to games.

On the plus side, I did get to see San Antonio correctly this time.

Oh man... this season is so good. I am just in the VERY early parts of the first book but am thoroughly loving Season 2 of the show.

Has it become company policy to ask if you hate saving money at gamestop? I have been asked that by several different employees at two different gamestops after telling them I don't have a card and don't want one. I let them give me their spiel, say no thank you, and then get asked if I hate saving money. Weird sales pitch...

Yeah, it's...something. If I ever bought used games, it would be something I'd probably spring for. But I don't. And I don't think the membership fee is worth it for the rare times I trade stuff in.

Not that I relay this to whatever employee is helping me. I just try not to roll my eyes too hard and keep it moving.

Well... do you hate saving money?

Legitimate answer: that's likely part of the "Circle Of Life" program they've got going on. They've always had to push used games but it sounds like management is much more strict about the targets they hit and that's a classic line for any kind of sales pitch. I used to have to do something like that for the point/loyalty cards I'd have to hawk when I worked at a bookstore.

I hated that part of the job. You're actually penalized for selling the product you're ostensibly there to sell and are rewarded for selling the loyalty program (or in GS's case, used games).

I do hate saving money, but I still think it is a weird thing to ask customers.

Seriously though. I don't, or at least I didn't, go to gamestop often. Usually only during their big used games sales. Now I have one located conveniently for me to visit during my lunch breaks so I am in there more often. It really isn't a big deal, I have worked retail so I understand and don't like giving the clerks a hard time. Plus the dude today said it quietly and didn't look at me while saying it and it made me wonder if he didn't want to say it but had to.
