It was mostly that. It's been a while, and I only played with the various fixes, but I recall the use of GFWL annoyed people, especially with the way their net code worked. I recall there was some internal game balance issues too, like they released the game at a different patch level than we on console, and took a while to catch up.

Oh there was definitely no GFWL when I played it. I got the Prepare to Die Edition. I wonder if those things were all sorted out by then.

Not all of them, but GFWL was removed by the time I played it too. Otherwise I would have gone with console. I remember checking for that specifically before buying it on PC.

At any rate, I never while playing Dark Souls thought, "I have a complaint about this PC port."

Honestly, the prime reason I went to the PC port it was their promise of decent K/M controls, because I wanted to play at work.

I was really disappointed until someone came out with the Mouse fix.

But then, I was disappointed with the controls on DS2, and had to use Autohotkey to fix it.

At least DS3 had a decent set up.

See, and maybe that's the big thing. I would never play a DS game without a controller.

While I definitely appreciate that the option is there, I can't imagine playing without a controller. I also have never tried so really I have no idea if I would like it or not.

Honestly, I guess it would be better for those times when you need to aim a bow. Or spells? I never aimed a spell in this game.

I have never tried a caster either, and if I use a bow I just spam from some safe spot.

Yeah, I play casters and will cheerfully abuse spells and bows to cheese opponents.

Part of the reason I'm so disappointed with the DLCs, because they're so heavily balanced towards melee tanks and dodge-pros.

So, you're saying I should have made more effort to give it a shot? (Melee tank, here, not dodge-pro.)

Which DLC? DS1? HAHAHA. I've finished that once. Never again. Fsck Artorias, Fsck the Guardian, Fsck Manus and especially Fsck Kalameet.

All right. Maybe I was better off without it.
