You say that like it's not a bad thing.

I generally don't play MMOs because they're generally terrible games. I've really tried to overlook that because the setting and writing in TSW are so fantastic, but when it comes down to it, the game portion is the same miserable chore to actually play that most MMOs are.

I was burned by Funcom on Anarchy Online's launch and the lack of response by them to issues in Age of Conan. All the good word of mouth in the first part of this thread couldn't get me to break my vow to never part with another dime going into Funcom's coffers. This from someone that tries almost every MMO launch to come down the pipe.

I came to this thread to say whenever the picture with the blond chick pops up on origin/whatever else, I become entranced by the blond chick. They drew a hot one there folks.

Not enough to get me to try the game, but you know...

As mentioned in the Gaming News section today, the subscription is being dropped. Anyone else planning to get back into the game?

Downloading now.
I've been wanting to get in to the game for awhile. I played during beta and loved the story but felt the combat needed some work and was really hyped for GW2. I got better combat out of GW but not much for story. I'm really looking forward to starting up tomorrow. I'll toss some info up after I make my first character.

Yeah, probably when I got some downtime, I gave up on the final zone, just everything was so frustrating with the forced small grouping, but too easy for a large group.

But for the current price of $30? The first 3 zones have some of the better moments in gaming this year.

Look for RoseKolodny the Illuminati initiate on Arcadia. I'd love to group. I'm running around Kingsmouth right now. Been playing solo and helping people occasionally. <3 the story so far. Fun times =)

I'll be diving into this over the next couple days. Any classes/weapon combos I should avoid? Any of the factions noticeably more boring than the other?

"Robert Cosmicgypsy Tearborn" also on Arcadia.

All of the weapons seem viable and you will need to be flexible as you move from one area to the next. You will eventually get enough points to unlock pretty much everything. The missions are really different from most of the standard mmo's out there.

Annika "Annistar" Pollux on Arcadia, Dragon.

So, mission difficulty - do things marked 'hard' get easier as I go up in Dragon rank?

It's based your skill points I think. The ones that let you use higher tiers. I found it was best to focus on 2 weapons and only 1 aspect of the weapon for most of the game (Sword/Damage, Rifle/Healing for example) to be able to use better gear, as Secret World is VERY much a gear-makes-the-hero game, as the base stats do not increase that much. (my character using a tier 1 sword does a bit more damage than a new character using a tier 1 sword).

Okay, now I'm sort of in a quandary.

The story mission I'm on, "Dawning an Endless Night", is sending me to the next area.

Should I continue on, or should I try and do as much of the stuff in Kingsmouth I can before leave the area?

Totally your choice. You still gain exp for doing older missions.

Stay in Kingsmouth, the next 2 areas have some really annoying giant bugs!
