I'm not really sure why other people would prefer a controller though. Comfort is really my only reason. If it weren't for that, I'd be happy with mouse/keyboard. It's also a little difficult to use a mouse/keyboard when sitting in my recliner playing games on the HTPC without getting one of those lap desks, so I only play controller-compatible games on that machine.
Yeah, makes sense. And I have the same issue for my Steam Link. I can't figure a comfortable way to use keyboard/mouse in my TV room.

Them's fighting words.

Not words I disagree with, but words I will fight you for uttering aloud.

I totally agree with the assessment of the year so far. It's been amazing so far. So good I can't remember what else is coming out later that even holds a candle to what has already come out.

I mean, add Torment: Tides Of Numenara & The Sexy Brutale to that list just to weigh the year even higher in the front half's favour.

I'd be careful about throwing gauntlets now I'm back in Canada, friend. And planning a move to Ontario, what's more.

We'll settle it the Ontario way: we run through Maple Leafs Square during a playoff game wearing a Habs jersey. Whoever spends the least amount of time in the ensuing coma, wins.

Actual quote from a guy I heard in a very small rural bar:

"I'd rather have a sister who's a hooker than a brother who's a Habs fan."

Pretty sure if I wore a habs Jersey my dad'd disown me.

He loved the micro missiles on the heavy rifle, while, again, I went for the sniper scope.

He hated the plasma rifle, which I loved.

I loved the rocket launcher, and the homing missiles, but he seemed to even more.

Just in general, when I expressed how I would feel hampered by aiming with a controller, he emphasized how his weapon choices didn't really require much aim.
The best gun is clearly the super shotgun. If you don't have ammo for that you use whatever until you have ammo again.

I always figured it was just what they had always used and therefore was what was easiest to use and the most comfortable.

QWES. I find it far more comfortable to have my three fingers resting in a row rather than keeping two of them bent back.

We were both fans of it, I believe, although neither of us share your particular enthusiasm it seems.

That does seem more comfortable. I never thought about changing the keys. I have to try this out on something now.

I am a big key remapper. This occasionally bites me when low budget games like The Witness or Battlefield 3 don't support it properly.

But 3 fingers are in a row with WASD... What kind of freaky keyboard are you using?

I just put my fingers on QWES and it feels so wrong...

Granted, I remember when WASD was alien back in the days when you'd have to use the HOME & END keys to look around...

What are you talking about? Q and E are the keys on either side of the W. A and D are a row down from the W. The are in the same row as the S. The home row, if you will. Which the W is not on.

That is what I say about WASD.

Heh. I recall PgUp and PgDn for Dark Forces, I think.

S is a bit far to reach. I'd prefer WADX, but since moving to controllers I've lost all kb mouse muscle memory.

Huh? X is farther to reach than S, isn't it? Are you pressing the X with your thumb???

Yep. If you're using qwes I thought that would be a 4 finger style with the thumb on s.

Never heard of that. My thumb stays on the spacebar (or sometimes moves up to c,v,x,b if they have special functions in the game I'm playing). When I need to move backward the middle finger slides down. Do other people keep four fingers on the movement keys?

What is wrong with you?! That's even more freakish than QWES!!!

Man, it's so interesting to see how differently some people use their systems...
