I think that's because most people don't consider it in the MCU until they really think about it.

I don't need an exact recreation of the book, especially since those you mention are pretty ancillary to anything Planet Hulk (forget WWH). They're just a means to get him on world, easily altered.

Is it really a Thor movie without a stonefaced Natalie Portman trying to grind out her scenes as fast as she can?

I enjoy about 20 minutes of Incredible Hulk. I remember watching the Blonsky scenes and thinking they might actually, finally be able to pull off Captain America physically. The Batroc fight on the boat was a fun moment to finally get to see. Other than that, it's pretty shit.

Thor's a bit hard to place. He's fun, but not very compelling in the movies. I prefer Thor 2 to the original, there was at least some sort of character conflict that gave me something to watch. The first was just handsome super guy loves the pretty regular lady and fights the bad evil thing.

This time Thor seems to have an actual personality. It's a refreshing change of pace.

I thought that norton hulk movie was just him jerking all over himself over how much he can act out the man with an inner struggle dealing with his inner demon.

It's like making cyclops tom cruise or something it's not cyclops anymore it'd be tom cruise.

Story wise well, who watches movies for story any more. Well at least marvel ones anyway.
I do tbh. 2 hours of just watching explosions or cool sfx does nothing for me anymore. And the Guardians vibe just gave me hey look at how cool this shit looks, but nothing much more. I'm not excited yet for Guardians because of it. even though I know it will be fun.

My main problem with first two Thor movies is that the Jane Foster romance was dull, pointless, and detracted from what could have been better stories. In the first movie in particular the central character growth for Thor needed to be maturing into a true leader. There was some of that but there could have been a much bigger focus if the romantic subplot weren't sucking up so much oxygen. I would have loved to have seen Thor getting to know more of the town residents than just the science team and contributing meaningfully to their lives.

The second film has some fun parts but as a whole it's mostly forgettable.

That's because it isn't an MCU film. It predates the connected universe idea.

EDIT: I stand corrected by myself. It was the 2nd MCU film. Well, it is certainly the worst of them.

I don't understand why people don't like The Incredible Hulk.

The worst MCU film is Iron Man 3. It's almost unwatchable.

I don't like it because it suffers the same problem as any Hulk solo movie. Bruce Banner just isn't very interesting and so the movie drags any time he stops being big and green. At least with the Avengers movies he has the rest of the cast to prop him up during his "downtime".

I agree about Iron Man 3 though. It's the worst MCU film by some distance.

I never got why Thor and Caps seemed to get a pass while Hulk just got shit on universally. I felt all three characters were corny (which has to be embraced a la Ant Man and GoTG, which is why this new trailer looks great) and weren't particularly utilized or developed very well for their debut solo outings. None of them are Tony Stark, so having to carrying the by the numbers type stories the MCU had prior to the first Avengers wasn't nearly as easy to cover up with humor or coolness factor.

The one thing that partially saved Hulk for me was the awesome fight at the end. We were fresh off of Ang Lee's sky ballet vision, and Superman battling real estate, so it was fun to actually see a high-tier super hero battling something that was actually a threat.

I'm probably just a mark for Captian America, but I really enjoyed his character development in the first movie. They establish his motivations early, go through the change to superhero, then from propaganda prop to real, actual hero of the war. It's not exactly groundbreaking, but it's a watchable story. By the end, he settles into his Man Out of Time archetype that he's still sorta riding on.

I'm just happy to see Thor given a distinctive character. The director released a few teaser videos of Thor and his roommate that are pretty fun, but more importantly, they make him look like a ridiculously arrogant and spoiled dude-bro. It's a great character type to build fun stories with. Considering Taika Waititi's other work, I see a lot of potential.
