This (plus a price drop) will be my breaking point for a WiiU.

Lets use motion controls for camera, because that always works.

I actually used it effectively in OoT3D. Riding the horse and shooting moving targets worked very well.

Anyway, THAT MAP IS HUGE. So glad I bought a WiiU now.

Looking good. Jumping off Epona for aerial attacks with the bow looks fun.

An iJustine video interview with Shigeru Miyamoto:

This bit was taken during the interview regarding the size of the world, and that progress will be tailored in that you can play in small chunks due based on today's lifestyles: (NeoGaf OP)

Quote:
You showed the Zelda trailer and that's such a huge world. How is that going to be for you guys to approach as far as gameplay and story, because it's such a huge world.

With Zelda games, what we've always done is try to make them where you enter this big world of Hyrule and there's a lot to explore and discover, but because of the hardware limitations, what we've had to do is segment off each area and piece those segments together in a way that make them feel like a big world. Now with the hardware capabilities of the Wii U, what we did was we first started by saying well let's see what we can do if we take an entire world the size of the world from Twilight Princess and just try to make that as one area on the game.

Do you see that as a game where people will go to complete a certain mission and they end up doing fifty things along the way?

Yeah, there may even be times where you forget what your goal is, because you are doing other things on the side. There may be times where you go in to one big one long dungeon, or you're headed for a dungeon and doing other things on the side. What we're trying to do is design it in a way where you don't have to play it for a super long time, but more matched to today's lifestyle where you can think for a little bit, and say "maybe I just want to play for a little bit today and do this one thing." and get that thing done, then take a break.

From this ABC News interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, he touches on topics such as amiibo, Star Fox WiiU, a rumored animated Mario Bros. film, and the next Mario installment.

Miyamoto also talked a bit about The Legend of Zelda WiiU. He mentions that the world will be such that you're actions will affect what happens in it:

Quote:
AP: You recently previewed gameplay footage from next year's "Zelda" installment. What's your strategy for "Zelda" on the Wii U?

Miyamoto: One of the main things we wanted to do was go back to the open-world concept of the original "Zelda" games and design with that in mind. That's really the direction the team is going in. This time, we've brought back Link's horse, Epona, and his bow and arrow, but what we've decided is really fun is being able to freely walk around in this world and choose what you want to do and how you want to explore. I can't talk much about it, but one of the things we're working on right now is that, as you play, the world will change and be affected by what you choose to do.

In a youtube interview with Smosh, Shigeru Miyamoto says that The Legend of Zelda U is at a point where the gameplay and story is now getting fleshed out, and with various ideas being added as well. (Zelda Informer)

A small Gamereactor EU article in which Aonuma talks about realizing The Legend of Zelda's open-ended world thanks to the boost in hardware of the WiiU.

Clearly the smashing success of Skyrim in Japan has finally begun to influence them in terms of open-world game design as opposed to more linear styles. Square Enix is already talking about open-world for the next Final Fantasy title, now Zelda. Hopefully we'll see more of this.

This has been delayed, won't be out this year. It won't even be shown at E3. I'm going to guess late 2016.

Not a huge surprise, but a big shame. That really just leaves Splatoon on the things I know I'm excited for on Wii U this year. I guess maybe Star Fox if that makes it out.

Aonuma has recently teased that based on fan feedback, he is looking into implementing a twist to The Legend of Zelda U's open world. (IGN)

Nintendo of America will have a playable version of The Legend of Zelda WiiU at the Nintendo NY Store from June 14-19.

They will have a Super-Fan sign-up event on June 11, in which 500 people will be selected. In addition to the title being livestreamed from their booth at E3 2016, staff will be on hand to give guided playthroughs, and with some fans even getting a chance to participate in said playthrough. Due to past experience that means a huge line waiting outside the Nintendo World Store, probably overnight.

Wow! That was absolutely gorgeous. I am now, for the first time since the N64, interested in a Nintendo property. Any info on which console this is for and when the release date is?

Looks great, definitely looking forward to it. Just a matter if I get it on WiiU or NX. NX most likely.
