For me, Bourne Supremacy is the best example of how shaky cam can ruin action scenes. Especially when the two people fighting are both white guys with black clothing, punching each other in a poorly lit room. At least something like Guardians has visually distinct characters most of the time, so even if all you see is a blur, you have a good chance of understanding what is happening.

Story will obviously be interesting in the second season. Hopefully they put better action in it.

That is not to say shaky cam can't be done right; like Winter Soldier, but mostly it's nauseating crap like Guardians of the Galaxy.
Well, Marvel set the bar high for their Netflix shows with Season 1 of Daredevil and they haven't quite gotten back there yet.

Every Nettlix series since DD1 has had that issue. They need to go to 10 eps instead of 13 and cut the fat.

Luke Cage had him setup one too many times. JJ kept getting bodies around her. To a point I was feeling the repitition in both cases. Dont know if its the binging or format. But it really devolves quality. The stories arent great enough to support it.

Pretty much but daredevil had a saving grace with d'onofrio. Luke cage wasn't boring as tears because it didn't trod through some past trauma bs. Jessica jones I found her powers very underused.

Saw the first episode of the first season (2005 reboot) of Doctor Who.

Curvy chav girl as the main female lead? Check.
Blowing up a London institution? Check.
Cheesy mid-aughts special effects? Check.
Synth music out of the 80s? Check.
Brush sense of humor? Double-check.
Christopher Eccleston?!?! Cheeeeck!

I'm sold. Loved it, can't wait to see the entire run. When she asked him if he was alien why he had a Northern accent I was hooked.

It's a shame I've waited so long. Hand on my heart I've never seen an episode of any season (new or old), but the cultural references are so pervasive it wasn't that much of a challenge to leap into the world.

Well, nice. I hope you post more impressions as you make your way through the series.

Singin' in the Rain--Holy shit, if DDR were around back then Gene Kelley would have destroyed everyone at it. Also, how the fuck did the supporting guy SURVIVE "Make 'Em Laugh"?

Gene Kelly had a really high fever when he finished the Singing in the Rain sequence, all in one take.

I will watch Moses Supposes any day all day. Perfectly synchronized, blisteringly fast, almost all in one take, in slacks and long sleeves and they never break a sweat. Fucking unbelievable.

And the dance number with Cyd Charisse is one of the sexiest things on film.

They don't make em like that anymore.

This is a problem with American TV in general. Seasons are too long and thus you end up with a lot of filler. It's even worse for network shows that have 20+ episodes per season. When binge watching a show it's readily apparent that whole episodes often serve no real purpose. The creators of Stranger Things were smart to limit the first season to 8 episodes. I hope they do the same with season 2.

Edit - I should probably get around to watching Singing in the Rain one of these days, along with other classic musicals.

Agreed, Stranger Things and Legion are both 8 eps and fine for it. Even GOT 10 would be ok.

To me, Donald O'Connor (the guy who did Make 'Em Laugh) was the real star of that film, or at least equally important as the leads. He steals almost every scene that he's in. In any case, Singin' In the Rain is a masterpiece that is still very watchable (or listenable) today.
