I know they're not quite as well known as OnLive, but the assumption that we don't know who Gaikai is seems a little odd to me as pretty much every time cloud gaming is brought up, someone usually mentions both OnLive and Gaikai.

As far as the actual announcement is concerned, I think it makes sense given what Sony needs to do to compete with MS and what they've been doing with PSN+. Somewhat risky move, but there's a good chance we'll get something cool out of this.

I had heard of them, I just wasn't overly familiar with them when compared to OnLive, etc.
