I got pretty far in Night In The Woods last night. Starting to unravel more of the main plot. So many layers to this game. Love it.

So my son is sick, again. I think I can chalk this one up to the 3 days he spent at the skate park in subzero weather with no coat or gloves on while he was skating. Well, if nothing else, that likely made him succeptible to the cold & flu that has been making its way through the schools and work.

I'm going to go into work for a little bit but will probably have to work from home most of the day.

Still working on The Legend of Zelda: The Breath of The Wild for Nintendo Wii U Entertainment System. I like the game an awful lot, but looking around at the universal praise the game is getting, I think maybe not quite as much as others. The last two times I've picked the game up, I've put it down after a frustrating death rather than get drawn in for hours at a time.

Still messing around on my RetroPie. Thinking I want to start Chrono Trigger on there one of these days.

I went to bed with a tickle and woke up with a sore throat. Great...

I blame Spigot, as the last thing I saw before bed was his little joke. Good one, Smock Rager.

Thankfully I'll be spending the morning here:

After that I'm off to get my car worked on (boo!) and spend the afternoon with Chris (yay!).

He keeps agreeing as long as they don't throw him in the briar patch. In the end they do, but it just scrapes off all the tar and the rabbit is fine because the briar patch is where he was born and raised.

In general, it refers to begging not to get something that you really want. (Reverse psychology.)

My usage here is a little looser, but basically just referencing the fact that I'm saying the opposite of what I really mean.
I know the movie, don't know much about it though. Well you taught me something new Donut Master.

You mentioned/referenced the dark nether regions of your body. That kind of killed the body talk

Glad to oblige. I don't think I've ever actually seen the entire movie either. But that part of it is more famous.

It's also one of the least racist parts.

If I'm not mistaken, "Zippety-doo-dah" is from SotS. So it's not ALL bad.

Oh, it absolutely is.

Although the proper spelling is, apparently, Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah.

Man, how do Americans actually spot a Canadian accent? I can never ever tell an American by accent.

Had a great weekend with the nieces. We watched Doctor Strange on Blu and The Iron Giant on Netflix (I'm not crying, you're crying!). Sunday night, I was playing with my 5 month old corgi pup when she bit my arm a little too hard. When I jerked away from her, there was an audible pop and one of her baby teeth was stuck in my arm. I'll be glad once she has all her adult teeth in.

This week I'll be enjoying:

Into The Badlands - Work kicked my ass yesterday. I was too tired to play anything, so I started this series on Netflix. I'm a little weary of the "mysterious kid with mysterious power" trope, but I like the political struggle between the Barons. Thankfully, the martial arts action is top-notch. We'll see how it goes.

Horizon: Zero Dawn - This game. This goddamn game. Nearly everything is brilliant: graphics, music, story, combat. Karak was correct in that a few minor voice acting bits we weak and yes, sometimes the facial animations are a little off. But this is the kind of game you pull out to answer the question "why do you have a PS4?" This is the kind of game where you say "one more robot dinosaur hunt" at 3 a.m.

Serious Answer:

Most Canadians, they can't. People from BC to Ontario for the most part have a neutral accent that makes us sound pretty much like anyone north of Iowa and west of Texas.

When you hit Quebec with their Francophone accents, it becomes a lot easier (obviously) and strong Maritimer/Newfie accents are pretty clear.

Stupid American Answer: Just ask us to say "about".

Reason why the Stupid American Answer is Stupid: That only identifies a Maritime/Newfie accent, and they say it 'a-boat' not 'a-boot'. 'A-boot' is Scottish Gaelic.

Wow, I remember far more of my University Linguistics class then I thought I did.

To be fair, we're more pure Canadian than those folks from out east.

I dunno man, every American I meet in person says they can hear it. Maybe they just want to think they do.

Xydarc, Into The Badlands may not have the greatest plot but the world is neat and by god, the fight choreography is excellent. Quite stoked for season 2, which happily premiers on my birthday

It is typically very subtle, and jpub is right. If you don't say words like about, car or house with an accent than I will never notice it, and I always figured that had to be a regional thing anyway.

After something like 6 months and more than 30 hours of work we finished the leg tattoo a few weeks back, it is all healed up and the artist just posted some pics on his instagram.
